No worries Lorias, I am still here. I am terribly sorry with the series of events that have lead us to this point. Re: What kind of steel?

Yeah, 18 gauge or 20 gauge mild steel would be your best choice Those we be alright gauges to use if it was forged & tempered steel. However, for reenactment purposes if you are going with mild steel you will want 16ga at the very least to prevent armour fail if hit hard. That is if you don't want ...

I can make you some plates out of Spring steel if you would like, heat treated and everything. If you want to find something yourself see if you can get 1050 spring steel sheet at your nearest steel supply outfit.

No it does not work that way. And instead of 'believing' you might as well pick up a book and learn how steel really works. On the contrary I picked up the hammer first, the books came second. The only thing books do for me now is explain in detail what was taught to me as gospel in a mystical sort...

Rolled Plate vs Forged Plate

Dear fellow Armourers, I have been thinking for a great while what material would be stronger. A peice of steel rolled into a sheet or the same steel beat from a billet into a plate would be stronger. Taking into account metallurgy and the compression of molecules, I believe, although have not prove...

Intresting Controversy, Help

Would anyone be intrested in Gutentags?

I have been wondering if gutentags would sell. They are somewhat easy to make. They are pole maces invented by the flemish peasants. They have a block of wood ontop of a 5 foot pole and on each of the four sides of the block are a steel spike and it has a top spike. The spikes measure about 3 1/2" t...
