SOLD- Grettir the slow Gauntlets.
I am selling a pair of gauntlets made by Grettir the Slow. I purchased them before I had to stop fighting due to a work injury, so they have been tried on, but not fought in. I usually wear an XL glove, my hand measures roughly 4" (10cm) across, and these fit nice. $900 shipped to US lower 48 Thank ...

I haven't for SCA fighting, but back when I was playing soccer and having some replenishment issues, my doctor recommended Pedialyte. It worked quite well for me. Then again it's been about 20 years since then and there might be something better.

It has been a few years, but my COP was great and held up well. I can't find the order form for the fabtic, but IIRC, it is made of two layers of heavy flax linen. I used the roofing nails, and decorated them with a little paint.

:D Glad to hear you are back! Spend all your time off on ancient sports cars? Not sporty, but an old 4000lb L6 flathead. I've a fusion a C5/C6. I went from a kettle to a spangen with an open front aventail and a very tall gorget. Kinda acts like a neck brace. Some good advice and thoughts on the he...

Yes, but the person asking the question comes from a Kingdom that has a history of Squire chains. The repetitive pecking is getting tiresome.

Re: Getting back after neck injury and time off
Welcome back! I would advise a lighter helm and avoiding weight riding on your shoulders and back unnecessarily. This would mean no maille shirt. Hidden plastic for the torso would likely be a good idea. Hmm, unfortunately plastic is something I want to avoid. Might be worth looking into the weight...

Getting back after neck injury and time off
About a year and a half ago, I herniated 4 discs in my neck which caused me to loose feeling to my middle and index fingers, as well as my thumb in my left hand (I'm a lefty so it sucks). This coincided with my interests shifting towards other things other than SCA fighting, and I have been out of i...

Re: Critique My SCA Kit
Actually, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. On my belt I've lost fittings over the years, but the buckle and strap end have been left pretty intact. I'd say give it a try. The kit itself looks quite good. Are those the "skinny" shynbalds as well? Thanks, I'll go with the belt a few times and...

Rudolph, I think you need some form of belt. be it either sword belt or other. Would mail chausses have been used at this point? A belt would be good. I have one that I made for my soft kit using a 14th century Hungarian reproduction buckle and strap end from Armour and Castings. Thought about givi...

I'm in the process of building my early 14th kit and would appreciate any suggestions. My target is 1315-1320 Eastern Europe (Nitra). This was a mock up pic to see how it is coming along. As you can probably tell, the shynbalds aren't strapped on the bottom in this pic. I really want to get some mai...

Can't help too much with the sword, but for that pic, I think you are leaning more towards mid 14th. There are many, but if I ever make it back to the Mid again;
Duke Sir Palymar (fought once at a Candlemas bear pit back in '94 or so, would still love another bout)
Sir Vitus (just cause).

Re: Have you, or would you ever consider, changing your SCA
When I first joined the SCA, I had an interest in 13th-14th Century Germany. I chose Rudolph Stahl as a name. Rudolph was a family name, and Stahl, because I thought it was a cool germanic last name. Over the years, I kept using it. While I like Rudolph, Stahl always seemed like a place holder. A nu...

I have taken a few classes with Jeremy in the past, and can say that he has taught me much. I can really appreciate this, and am looking forward to...

Re: What's your fighting style? Brawler, sniper etc...
I guess I would describe myself as a brawler. I'm 6'4" 250lbs with long reach, but I always end up getting in close, even with a pole weapon. In melee I seem to be used mostly as a wall breaker. Don't survive often beyond the initial push, but can make good sized holes for others to follow.
