Re: declangalvin <-- Non paying Dibber *Seller beware*
I also strongly believe that buyers and sellers should be encouraged to rate each other or give a e-bay style "good seller, fast shipper, as described" result to the deal. That way we are all protected (to a greater or lesser extent). Just my thoughts on a very emotive subject (as every subject inv...

Re: declangalvin <-- Non paying Dibber *Seller beware*
The problem I see with it is that since the sales are private and don't go through the site there is no way to limit the feedback to sales based transactions between people. Every time someone got butthurt in Political, someone else's rating would drop. It would be an unreliable metric to use. My t...

One of my company's big metal suppliers, Phoenix Steel, has a Richmond, VA office...give them a try...usually good priced with delivery so you don't have to 'drive to Richmond'...

What Glaukos said! I've noticed that we have even gotten into the habit of "Dibs" and "Second Dibs" with a following text of something along the lines of 'if so-and-so finds they don't want it for whatever reason'. This usually sets the seller up well that if that first person doesn't want it, or fa...

Just for sizing questions....Eikbrandr says on his site... A 500 plate vest fits my 6′ tall, 220 pound frame with a lightly padded gambeson on. It weighs in at 8 pounds for the vest. So to fit a 64" trunk, as holyone says, I would say 850 plates probably isn't too far off. It looks to be 9 or 10 row...

Re: Crown Tournament Formats and Rules
One thing that has bothered me in the past is weapon/shield limitations that are a blanket size. For one, it makes the fighters possibly have to make a new weapon or new shield just for that crown because they use a shield X by Y sized, but the crown list limits to A by B sized shields, where A=X-2"...

Re: How do i determine helmet size?
On top of that....you can make your own calipers from a wire coat hanger....add some twists at the middle so it will hold the measurement somewhat better. I've found that having a ruler under the helm (laying on it's side/back depending on which measurement your taking) so you have less distance to ...

If the gauntlet is attached to the shield, that would make the two be one item. Thus the shield would be controlled by the hand....and as long as he doesn't hold anything in his shield hand, would you still consider it to be 'not controlled by the hand'? Now if he tried to hold a blade or other weap...

When I started in Heavy, I fought for a long time in minimum armour...learning to block AND padding the areas that were frequently hit. Re: Hose Clamps vs Duct Tape for basket attachment
I too use the duct tape-rope method. Over the years I have frustrated myself with hose clamps. With me it wasn't so much that they came loose but that the damn things break at the worst possible moments. Then again I block alot of shots on the top of the hilt which evidently stresses the hell out o...

Re: Hose Clamps vs Duct Tape for basket attachment
I got away from hose clamps. I simply take a wide roll of strapping tape, do one single layer, then roll out a long line and twist it into strapping tape rope, and wrap around the basket/rattan a good 8-10 times, then a final pass of the strapping tape not-rolled to close it. Final finish, a layer o...

I tape mine down with strapping tape, once over the top both front and back, then I tape around it with strapping tape. Then I tape over the whole thing with duct tape. This, but I do two over-the-tops. One front over to the back, and one left over to the side. Then wrap with strapping tape and cov...

Yeah, but ensuring that there is enough marshals on the field that way too.... Considering we usually don't have enough marshals, period... fairly hard. For 500 fighters there should be 35 marshals. Not sure how often this really happens. I don't oppose the idea... just don't think you'd get the requisite volunteers. Simple. A unit provides a proportionate amount of marshals,...

Posting a review on the customer isn't the problem. If we already have customers posting positive responses on merchants, or negative with e-mail/message evidence and stories, why is it so bad to give the merchants a chance to do the same? Had a friend that moved to Texas that years ago made a coat of plates from the metal plates that go on gas pumps I believe? They were scrap/leftover at his work.
Held up for years, and with pockets the plates sat in, he could easily remove plates to actually wash his armour.

What Tedesco said is what I had heard too as per the reasoning. IMHO it is easier to change armour from Rapier to Heavy.
