Re: LITERALLY a ransom fit for a King! (Why do the Deed...)
What are the more often-seen styles of ransoms? Val Some of the things I've heard of: Home brew, books, fabric, coins copied from period examples, paternosters, items, both decrative and utilitarian, made by the givers. As Nissan said, He who does more is more worthy. The more worthy the individual...

Amazing.
As a simple Man-at-arms on the French side my ransoms will be much humbler. As is fitting for a man of my station.

~ The captor or his agent must walk his prisoner off the field. The prisoner may not call out for help or otherwise draw attention to the fact that he is chattel. While the captor is escorting his prisoner, he may be forced to fight. If he is captured or killed himself then the prisoner goes free. D...

Re: Panther Regent leaking issue
Only leaking I have ever had was from pooling water. I have to make sure all lines are taunt and no sagging of the roof line. The last Pennsic we went to had continuous rain for 3 straight days and we only got a small leak , at a corner, on the last night. Where water had pooled.

I don't believe we know. Is there direct proof that anything was pointed to arming clothes before the 15th century?

Re: Suspending a leg harness from a Pier-Pont
I point my legs to my puorpoint arming cotte (called that because it is both quilted and I point my armor to it:) ) in two places. In front at just outside of the center line of my leg and at a point just forward of my hip. The front point is determined by where, on the cuisse, it balances and hangs...

I, too, used a painters tarp. If you plan the grommets right you can set it up as a peaked roof shade or a the smaller Bakers tent style. When I had Panther run up the fly for my regent i had extra grommets put in so that it fills three different needs.

People who don't want to fight, shouldn't. And they should never be made to feel the less for it. Whatever it is they are interested in they should do the hell out of. I just don't have much contact with people like that, with the exception of armourers, for obvious reasons. He does have contact......

Re: attaching quilted lining to helmet
On my bassinet I drilled holes (large enough for the eye of the needle with thread attached!) all along the face and lower edge opening. Spaced about 1/2" apart. I then sewed the liner to the helmet using waxed linen thread. You can use two needles and double stitch each hole or use one needle and g...
