Most of the smaller cars in the US are recommended not to tow a trailer. I think I saw one crossover that said 700 lbs and one that said 1000 lbs. Not much for a family of four's period encampment. Even many of the smaller SUVs are limited to 2000 lbs and the midsize SUVs can tow up to 3500. But th...

One thing that is interesting in the Adrian Empire is that they have a dispute resolution process and a code of conduct expected for all members. There is also a way for several members of the Chivalry to charge a Knight for an ongoing pattern of behavior that is an offense to the Order and the conc...

If the Ansteorran Crown were to issue an Absolute Banishment the person in question would be baned from any SCA activity in any Kingdom (including practices, wars, etc). The Banishment would automatically be sent to the BOD to be reviwed and for a possible R&D. That was my thought process in workin...

I would think Pennsic would have some merchanting applications and such. I've heard of R&D'd people coming to an event and being escorted off the premises. Would the Crowns of the East and Middle be able to ban a merchant? Possibly. It seems that you all should complain about both the business and b...

Christian, The complaint process at those levels would be part of the steps needed to get a banishment from merchanting or even possibly attending SCA events. For those of you outside the SCA, I'd write directly to the BoD. Whatever action takes place in the civilian world, most clubs have their own...

Mostly this ends up being a mundane matter because it involves real mundane law, businesses and contracts. For those in the SCA, why has this gone on so long? Clearly there are some ethics issues that are of huge concern. Like any issue, a number of complaints need to be sent in writing to various e...

There has occasionally been fighters who pretty much everyone knew used their hidden knees as an excuse to not take leg shots. Sometimes their knees even went up to their hip... and sometimes their hips went up to their armpits...

But I would not blame the hidden knees for that.

Here’s the thing. Outside of the SCA our culture is very much an insular and individualistic one. The idea of ‘apprenticeship’ is considered archaic if not insulting. If someone is talented at something they tend to safe-guard their knowledge and seek only the fame that comes with it. I'm ste...
