I've used the Zoombang shorts, and they work great. Sting without damage. Also, they're cheaper than the SD shorts.

Experimental Rules
So... Where can I find the documentation for whatever experimental procedures are currently in use in a given kingdom? Do the different kingdoms all have different spots for this (If so, could someone direct me to the West and Outlands sites, please?), or is there one big Marshal's discussion/experi...

Could it be heat treated after the fact to stiffen it up a bit? I'm not a blacksmith, so I'm not really clear on the details of that process.

WTB/T for Baegnoth Seax...
So, I saw this: http://viking.se/sax-beagnoth and just about cried when I found out that they can't ship to the U.S. Does anyone know where I could find such a thing at a similar price point? (comes out to about $120)

Do you have an estimate on when the Premium 9' sticks will be back in stock? I've had several people ask about some of the weapons I made from it, and I'd like to get started on the sequels.

Re: WTB Historic Enterprises zig-zag napkin
That's a napkin..? It's very pretty, but if that is as much effort to make as it looks like it would be, I can see why the product line was discontinued. I wouldn't want to wipe my mouth on that.

Re: 2" Mandrake tips suck and you all know it
I once had the corner of my aluminum heater come into my grill and miss my eye by a smidge due to a freak, and repeatable, occurrence. Shall we now ban aluminum heaters because I was almost blinded by them once 10 years ago? Careful, some folk would suggest adding perf plate to your helm. Nope, we ...

Re: 2" Mandrake tips suck and you all know it
As a postscript, words to consider, excerpted from the SCA Marshal's Handbook: "XV. EQUIPMENT INSPECTION GUIDELINES A. General Information 1. At each event, the marshal-in-charge must arrange for the inspection of all equipment to be used in combat (e.g., armor and weapons). This in no way relieves...

Re: 2" Mandrake tips suck and you all know it
The BAM incident sounds more like an issue of poor weapon maintenance than of the product in question being defective in design. I feel the design leads to poor maintenance. With an all foam tip it is normally easy to see that it has degraded and needs replacing. As the shape of the tip or the way ...

Re: Show us your best lookng SCA weapons
Take 2 sticks, plane down your handle, sand flat the bits where the sticks lay against one another. Lay them together with the blade side stick poking a couple inches forward of the handle stick. Shape foam to fill in the profile and form the thruster. Strapping tape the two sticks together; use as ...

Re: Blued Gauntlets
The only reasons I haven't bought them are: 1. the fingers aren't SCA legal (or BotN, or anything other that HEMA, I think), though honestly I'd probably buy them anyway to go with my other mild B&W stuff. 2. (Most importantly) They're sized for dainty little "average" hands, whereas I have great bi...
