Thanks for all the inputs. I appreciate the comments. About the visor, yes it was the first piece I tried. It’s 18ga stainless and fits over the top of the bargrill of the helm. The barwork comes out pretty far so the visor had to be made to cover all the bars and still conform tightly to the shap...

Yes, 14ga can be a bitch to dish. A few things that might help is: heavier hammer or using a bottom less dishing form. I believe Sasha refers to it as "sinking" instead of dishing. Basically you pound the metal into a large piece of pipe after carefully smoothing the pipe edges so you don't scratch ...

I use different ones for differents kits. My standard is a 17 X 23" scutum. It's small by most standards but is my favorite. I think it helps to keep my focused since you can't really hide behind it much. Same thing for the 15" buckler. I also have a 24 X 24" square, a large centergrip oval, a 24" c...

I use the shotput on a stick also, works damn spiffy. Also another way to get big stakes is to buy a used dumbell. The weider variety works well. Cut off one side and you end up with a big chunk o' metal on a stick that you can carve into whatever shape you want with an angle grinder. I have two 45l...

I use a poleaxe which is fairly similar. As far as defense goes I try to stay on the offense with it, which helps me to negate the time being on the defensive with it. Against a sword slash I will try to parry with the head and occasionally block with the haft, against a thrust I get out of the way,...

Time for an update on this project. The visor is done except for the hinge, and it now has a breastplate to go with it. The plan is to have matching besagews/roundels for arms and legs and maybe spaulders down the road. Comments/critiques welcome. frontview: http://www.geocities.com/rainaldk/visbrea...

Repoussed parade armour inspired helm visor
Howdy all. I've been fooling around the last two days with making another visor for one of my helms. It's a bargrill but has a klapvisor that attaches when ever I want. I got tired of the current visor that has the "My name is Jason and I'm going to kill you with a chainsaw look", so I went for some...

Today was a good day to die
Ok so it was 90F and 100% humidity here in Tokyo this morning, and only the three of us at practice...but I still had a good time. My all time favorites:
Why do you keep hitting me in the head? Can't you hit me some where else?
followed by:
Oh it's ok, I never get hit there.

Or have too many helms. Thought I would post a link of my helms as I try to clean out my workshop. Now if I only had a full kit to match each one.
