Perhaps it is my generation, or perhaps it is the fact that my mother was a feminist, but it has never occurred to me to respect a woman in armor differently than a man in armor. As for teaching, while I have not done much, I have seen that the natural differences in how we learn as individuals dwar...

Red line comes out basically to my house, anybody who drives into DC is a sucker. I wouldn't want to live in NoVA, the houses go out a lot farther than the Metro. However, the laws in MD, and Montgomery County are just plain silly. Forgetting even about the magical machine they must have that invali...

And Baltimore was the site of the first real bloodshed of the war, since backfiring cannon don't really count (unless you ask the people involved.) Seriously, MD people do claim to have the first KIA of the Civil War. The despot's heel is on thy shore, Maryland! His torch is at thy temple door, Mary...

Most common myths relate to weight of armor and weapons, and the speed of the medieval fight. This would be a good place to start, or focus. With a college crowd, I would also show how the battlefield evolved from 600 to 1600, since the idea that the "Dark Ages" were entirely stagnant is ...

I have seen a samurai persona done exceptionally well, which included the carriage of two blades even with the soft kit. They looked great, or at least their hilt and scabbard do, because I've never seen the blades. Which is my point.

Unless you are currently pulling guard duty, or wearing a white belt, you do not approach the Dragon Throne armed. It is a hard and fast rule, here at least.

It is inappropriate for most persona to be carrying weapons of war in their daily life, much for the same reason we don't: they're heavy, awkward and you risk looking like you're looking for a fight. There are plenty of exceptions to this however. And this is not to say that people were not armed in...

Also, weapons must be at least 1.5in in diameter, or more depending on type. This is because grilles on helmets can't be more than 1in apart. Shields, especially aluminum ones, are often not 1.5 in in diameter, or even 1in. They're also often metal, which is a substance we don't use in striking surf...

What about using brass? I think it would work fine using the same process. It also wouldn't rust, and you can buy brass door kickplates at any hardware store. They're about the perfect thickness for what you want. The metal would cost a bit more, but the labor you save may actually make it cheaper.
