Leg Harness Project

Hello @ all,
Last weekend was rainy, so I made some leg harness for my son.
Material is 20 gauge mild steel, not too heavy for a 11 year old boy.
I like to post some pictures of process to get some opinions.

@Uilleag : Yes, the original pics are very helpfull. How is it in your case working with leather ? I guess it isn’t easy to find pics from originals, not many of these parts survived until now. @shaohu : This shop is located in my cellar, I have to share it with two freezers, one big aquarium, a g...

@ shaohu : The same wish I had in my childhood, but I never thought that armour can be made by other people than professionals. I guess when our fathers 40 years ago had the same possibilities to find out how to make things like that, many of us have been little knights. @Adam anke, viele Grüsse na...

@ Agnarr: Thanks, yes it is my first one. @ Christopher: I fear you are right, I realized that the dishing wasn't deep enough when I finished welding. But the next one will have a deeper dishing. But I couldn't await the finished result and so I assembled it too early. @ ETC: Thanks, the period was ...

I never thought to get so much positive reactions, because the planishing is very bad, also the originallity. But you are right, I keep on working.
Now it is 3:00 pm here in Germany.

Hi Uilleag,
thx for your positive reply, I visited your homepage and saw what Art is possible in leather  .
The most awesome parts for me are the legs, really fine work of art.
Do you buy your buckles somewhere or are they selfmade by you ?

First helmet

Hello @ all, I want to show you my first try in armouring, this is a helmet I’ve built for my 11 year old son. It looks poor, compared to the other masterpieces I saw here. It’s made from 1,2mm carbon steel. But I guess the next one ( for his younger brother ) should be better if I go on and on ...
