S18 Cuirass goes with the S18 Armet :) If you want to recreate the suit as displayed that is.

Bascinet (with or without bevor) or Great Bascinet are very good alternatives

Re: Modifying a greave

unfortunately i'm finding it difficult to progress the shape. How do I make it thinner in the middle of the piece to better fit my lower leg? Generally by raising it over a T or Y stake. It is a very difficult shape to get right. It's 3am and I'm off to bed but I'll see if I cant post you some more...

I'm getting the impression that a basic 14th century man at arms or knight would be armed thus: Gambeson or "Arming jacket" of some sort a coat of plates or globose breastplate over the gambeson and under a Jupon (aketon? still not clear on the distinctions) plinted arms and legs (If goin...

Well, sorry - it was off the top of my head and I only played with the SCA briefly. That came across a lil snappy on my part, my apologies. I don't play SCA either, but if anyone other that photographers wanting fantasy armour actually decide to buy stuff off me I need to know I'm building to the r...

Depending on the decade and region the jupon could be padded or unpadded with closed, open or no sleeves. Laced or buttoned closure. For late 14th: Plate or splinted greaves and cuisses. Sabatons were optional. Under the jupon/coat armour would be a cuirass, Breastplate or CoP over a maille hauberk,...

Footwear for SCA is pretty much anything I believe, but many would prefer it if you make a period attempt. Can't remember exact hand protection rules. I believe it has to protect the wrist, so a demi gauntlet in 16 guage steel or equivalent, if using a basket hilt. Basically I think 16 guage steel ...

Looks like a quilted arming jack of some kind, thigh-high black leather boots and a sallet. for SCA you'll need hidden knees and elbows, clamshell gauntlets are inexpensive and accurate for that period if not for that exact illustration. you'll need some form of gorget - if you want to match that il...

I agree, Ridley Scott can direct - when he puts his mind to it - and crowe can act - unlike most stars - whether this will be "good" or mediocre remains to be seen, but I wouldnt write it off just yet.

they are too far if the plates "pop" easily over one another exposing your hand.

The question you need to ask yourself is: Does it move the way I want it to but stop before it opens up and becomes a hazard?

Their numbers match the Thordman reconstructions of the finds.

For example their number 24 is the #24 CoP which is a Type V.
