How big do you think it would be on someone 5'10" and about 170lbs. Jump into the stuff you intend to wear under it and check the length from your shoulder to just under your ribs. From shoulder to just under your ribs you want about 16" (40cm) Around your torso just under your ribs you w...

If you want one integral with the visor you'd leave a tail of steel comming off the center as the center part of the hinge.

certainly where I live hot rolled is considerably cheaper.

Eg: cold rolled 18ga: $120/sheet
hot rolled 18ga: $80/sheet

where both sheets are 1200mmx2400mm

get leather gloves, turn them inside out, sew the leathers on at the seams, you may wish to pad first with felt.

IMO rivet a strip of leather around the inside of the cuff (if there isnt one there already) and whip stitch your cuff to the gauntlet - it makes a world of difference.

Black magic: its a cold blue for guns, I use it on my harness. Last two shows it took minimal damage from blunt weapons (steel hammers and maces) but scratched up nicely when hit with rebated swords. heat + WD40, this is how I started, it is quite simple to do but very difficult to achieve an even f...

How thick can wiss cut? Check the piece of card its cable-tied to when you buy it. There are - to my knowledge - two versions, one which cuts upto 20ga and a slightly more expensive one which cuts upto 18ga. The 18ga will cut cold rolled if your a strong man. it will not cut 20ga stainless unless y...

Power shear, bane of my existance but it does the job. Cheap ones have a bad habit of coming loose at the throught so make sure you have allen keys in the shop to tighten them up regularly.

I find low RPMs and a cobalt coated drillbit pushed slowly through the steel works best when drilling, if you go too fast you lose control and you'll slip, push too hard and you'll snap drill bits every couple of holes. Always punch your holes before you drill. A little cooling oil doesnt hurt either.

Drill or punch. I find a bench drill works very well for anything near an edge, punches (the hammer driven kind) I use for thin metal and and/all leather and I use a cordless drill for anything in the middle of a plate that I cant reach with the bench drill - eg decorative rivets on cuirasses. I kee...

I buy my steel from a sheet steel wholesaler and my leather from a leather wholesaler.

I doubt names are going to be of use to you unless your in the Brisbane area.

Yellow Pages and/or google for suppliers in your area.
