You might also consider inserting plates inside your gambeson, too. My old gambeson had pockets inside that I slipped hardened sole-weight leather into. Really made a difference for me!

Gentles, I have a maille hauberk made of welded stainless and an aventail made of the same both made by Master Knuut that I *might* be interested in trading.
