I have a condo off las Olas. Las Olas is nice. I have a good friend who lives in a condo there. If you are interested, you should come by fighter practice. It is in Davie on Hiatus just south of 595, so maybe 20-25 minutes from you. We are slowly developing a fighting community down here and anothe...

What I have done is sewn a pocket that holds a plastic or leather plate over the back of the mask and then make the coif self lined (2 layers) out of linen since it breaths. If you do this, make sure that any areas not covered by helm or plate pass the punch test, or it won't be legal. This was one...

Hmmmm... I am concerned. No particular period (I know, horrible answer). My persona is early norman, so I would never fence. That said, I wear a norman tunic and pants, and then have this ugly fricking white fencing mask over a black hood. It looks BAD. I don't fence very often (only something to do...

Sorry if I were not more specific. I plan on putting the leather over the mask in lieu of the under-hood that I currently wear. I want to hide the fact that it is fencing mask, so it will go on the outside. As far as it being very hot, obviously I hope that it isn't. I've never made anything out of ...

Pattern for a Leather Hood for a fencing mask
I want to build a leather hood/drape for my fencing mask so it doesn't look so much like a fencing mask. I was wondering if anyone had any patterns or advice before I start to do it? Btw, I recognize that using leather may not be historically accurate, but it is a look that I like, a project I want ...

Max, Welcome! In Sangre we have 3 people regularly in armour on Thursday evenings, and as Thorstenn and JVR mentioned, Sea March is about an hour north. Their practices are on Sunday afternoon (2ish). Duke Mittion and Sir Max run that practice and it is a little bigger. I go up most Sundays. I'll PM...

For fun, I'm going to make a Coat of Plates, but I have no idea what rivets to use.

You know, I think you underestimate our willingness to talk about armour. I bet if you tracked each of these folks down, and had some good questions to ask, they'd answer. One of the benefits of something like this is that we can take it and expand on it as we have time. I would be happy to take pi...

MJB: Nobody really sent me any 15th century stuff! Zub: I think you vastly over inflate people's willingness to write! It would be a wonderful addition, but I doubt I could get much success. JvR: When I finish my new shield, I may take another photo of me. Until then, this'll do. Baron A: Sure. Bali...

i'm not a newbie, not at all Wartooth, this is just a suggestion, but it would probably look better if you would get some pants and cover the catcher's shins. With (what looks like) a spangen and a kite shield, you could sort of pull of an early Norman look, in which case winnegas (leg wrappings) m...

Re: market research: newbie armoury
1. Arms. I didn't know which pieces of armor "work well" or "work for me" but I do know from trying things that there is stuff I hate. Therefore, I am usually reluctant to buy something without trying it. Youtube video of the piece in action might help convince, but some stuff i...

First of all, welcome. SCA combat is a fun game/sport and the AA has a lot of knowledge, and quite a few opinions. Everyone has a different opinion when it comes to what a new fighter should have to start with and spend. We put our own bank accounts into the equation. It is natural. What is merely a...

If you can keep your price to the $300 range, that it is a wonderful idea. That is really your max price point if you want to compete with DV and Stonekeep (who seems to do an excellent job for such things). You could show newbies how they can dress the same kit for 3 or 4 different time periods and...

Like I said, it had nothing to do with the economic downturn. He simply accepted more orders than he could ever fill. The thing is, if he were an honest, hard working person, he could put the time in to complete the orders. I have worked 15 hours a day, 7 days a week when I was behind at the office ...

Nakos, while I understand your point, I hardly think that sending a series of emails asking about his stuff is the same as a DoS attack. In a DoS attack, system resources are taxed in such a way as to render them inoperable. In this case, he is a screwed customer who wants to know where his stuff is...

One prepayed order was rejected by accident as I had not recieved the notification from our digital money operator CC-Now. Possibely it was filtered out by our spam...
