I think the cat helm bargrill is cool looking.

I also think that while striving to look like something from history is noble (and something I personally am doing), people should relax when others do not share their opinions. After all, it is &%#@ING MAKE BELIEVE.

I'm with Kenwrec. I'd fail it if neither helm is the appropriate thickness. He can explain it lots of different ways of how it might be okay, but the grim reality is that if I am the marshal, I am not going to say something is safe that does not seem to be safe. My opinion is that heavily dented met...

In fairness, I have never made a drawstring purse... but if it was a flat circle that drew together from the edges, it would seem that when I opened it, things might be prone to fall out. Whereas a normal pouch, like a crown royal bag, keeps its shape even when open. The draw string just cinches it ...

Thanks, all.

Looks like a drawstring pouch is what I'm going to do. I'll probably have to modify the flat circle, though, as I doubt that would be secure enough for my liking (can't lose my wallet, keys or phone). :-)

Early Norman pouches? Satchels? Belt Fittings?

It seems that I can find a lot of Viking and Rus pouches, and I can find a lot of 14th century pouches and later, but I cannot seem to find any pouches that are correct for a 11th-12th century Norman. Any ideas on where I can find some photos? Vendors? Are belt pouches simply not appropriate for tha...

Another vote for the nutty buddy.

I used to wear a pair of XO sliding shorts with a anatomic cup, and before that, a different jock strap and cup combo. The NB is probably the most comfy, and the most convenient (you don't have to wear the cup to practice, or leave it in until you get home).

How is the protection quality? Can you take a stout blow without wincing or wishing you had full gaunts? From all reasonable angles?

I think a small correction is in order.. Viscount Arngrim's consort has lost her baronial title in list above, she should be named Baroness Branwen of Aarnimetsä if I'm not mistaken. It'll be very interesting to see the outcome of this list, for me there are four names that shine brighter than the...

While I appreciate what you are getting at, the movie's logic seems a bit flawed. By movie logic, any runner who weighs around 175 and competes in such a race has achieved the super human feat of dragging 1,750,000 pounds (875 tons!) a hundred meters. The ounce is going to matter, sure, but sensati...
