Hey Russ, could you send the pictures to me as well? If you did, I didn't get them (sometimes my spam filter does some odd stuff).

Thanks!

Jeez people, cut Artos a little slack. All he said was since he doesn't know what effect it has, please don't do it. He even admits to possibly being overcautious in his post. Lachlann, if you've got some rattan to burn, make an experimental weapon and take it to him. It's also probably a good idea ...

Bringing this thread back for a quick update. Gabriella had her surgery last week and is doing well. Doctors found and repaired another small hole in her heart while working on the major malformation. She is expected to move to a step-down room today (Dec 21) if a bed becomes available. She will not...

Aphar Faire, 2 years ago.... During the Relics melee, I had found the 'Stone of the Holy Sepulchre' - basically a big honkin' rock that was sort of a resurrection point on steroids - you couldn't be killed or wounded while touching it. Smart ole me decides to sit on the darn thing, thinking there's ...

Yep, Marvin, that's the one. How ya been, stranger? (Stranger than who I won't ask, because we KNOW...) Yep. That's what I thought. I remember thinking 'that's cool, but I bet it won't work in the SCA' and then I'll be darned if one of the guys didn't figure it out. I'm just not fast enough to pull...

Probably worthless in an SCA context, since a shield would block it instantly, but a false-edge or wrappy shot to the back of the lead knee while buying space. Works really well on guys who haven't figured out how to break rhythm. Are you talking about doing that backhand like we discussed once? If...

Dude, they run it most places.

Personally, I think the whole thing sucks. Tomuki once did me a huge favor when he was king of Calontir and I am forever grateful.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out - somehow I don't think the whole story is public yet.

What Baron Eirik said. By far the most common injuries around here are overuse/bad technique injuries. Learn how to do things properly and you can avoid lots of that. I went from right to left for the same reason - shoulder. My bits of wisdom are: Do lots of slow pell work. This will payoff big time. Your footwork will take longer to develop than your sword work. You'll keep finding yourself turning intoyour opponent's blows when you mean to turn away. Frustratin...

Val, ole' man, I agree with you to a great degree. In a perfect world, we would take a new fighter, give them the basics of blow throwing, stance, range, etc over the course of a few practices and have them work out some at home before putting them in armor. And we would work out with them two or th...
