I've got arms and legs ordered from him, but I haven't heard from him in a few months now. I've also heard his health problems have flared up, but I've had no contact with him in any case.

One of the rarest shields in the SCA...and I want one

I'm talking, of course, about the footman's pavise. The only one I'm aware of for sale is the Windrose tombstone pavise. Not a bad option, but I'd like to know what else(if anything) is out there. So for those lucky few who have a pavise, or if you know someone who does, where did it come from? Does...

Just FYI, if you want to post on the "I want to be a..." subforum, you're supposed to send your idea in the form of a request to a moderator, who will then either post it for you or point out that your persona in question already has an existing thread. The point is to reduce clutter cause...

There's nothing worse than getting screwed by the Man, and having everyone who could help you set things right refuse to do so. I've been there, and it sucks. But, what goes around comes around, so don't let it get to you. Don't give up either. I think everyone's just glad to see you doing better. I...

Buy stuff of-the-shelf, or used. Problem solved. If you must order something from an armourer, remember that they are all human, so keep these things in mind: 1. Some are crooks 2. Some have poor management skills 3. Everyone gets a sh!t sandwich now and then, including your armourer. 4. Patience is...

Tandy's has them...for about three times that price.

Other than that, I don't know.

It may be more broadly categorized as an upholstery item, rather than a leather-only item. Might help your search.

Looking at the pics, it seems like it would cover the fingers just fine if you were to hold it differently than PB is doing. Just rotate the stick in your hand until the cover is over the fingers, rather than the back of the hand. More pics would help. Cool idea, PB. Put up some pics when its all do...

I don't know much about carpentry, especially biblical/ancient technique, but how would they go about extracting a nail? Did they have a pry bar with a notch? They didn't have claw hammers then, right?

I find it hard to believe that no one would think it odd that the nail is perfectly straight after being supposedly used to crucify someone, then extracted from wood and quite possibly bone, too. If someone held up a perfectly straight nail and said "this was used..." would you believe the...

Depends on whether I get a rush to begin with.

But I always feel good afterwards, mainly because of how nice it feels to exercise. I usually have very little trouble falling asleep when I go to bed after an evening practice. If anything, I feel better.
