My BiL fought in a barony-wide Toys for Tots tournament last year against another unbelted who before the fight told him, matter-of-factly, "Just so you know, I'm going to win this tournament." Well, they commenced the fight. My BiL hit him solidly but not excessively in the leg. "Lig...

Since some folks got the oppurtunity to clarify the definition of a "beat down", I think us pro-cupshot fighters need to clarify as well. Cup shot: It is normally accepted by many fighters as a sign that "you need to start calling good shots." It is legal, but not appropriate to ...

JT, It looks to me like most of the folks who have spoken up here prefer the current system the way it is. I guess its just a fact of life that not everybody is going to be happy about things the way they are. So the question comes down to: who do you seek to satisfy first- those few who pay for sit...

Cat, I envisioned the "vendor" membership being applied to high-volume sellers, not divided between new and used categories. If you sell two new items a year on the classifieds, you don't need a vendor membership. If you sell two or more things every single week, you probably do. I like yo...

Personally, I don't much care for the auction system, especially because we have no buyer's protection system in place. And if we consider bidding as a legal obligation to buy, that's a whole new can of worms. Besides that, it seems, more often than not, that we can't even follow through on buying a...

You make a very good point, Owyn. My suggestion would only function effectively if the "vendor" membership were applied to those members who are here, first and foremost, to represent a business. It wouldn't be applicable to the occasional seller/trader. The only way I can think of to mayb...

I would recommend creating a form of membership known as a "vendor" membership. This could be a paid form of membership that allows for a higher number of classified section posts, with option to purchase ad space on the forum. You could make "vendor" membership a requirement for...

Nah, he was saying that SCA and WMA are not real fighting, because they both have rules. Either sport is not the same as a real, honest-to-God fight. Therefore, they're pretty similar. Perhaps there is a misconception that WMA studies are somehow a counterculture to SCA? There isn't a central autho...

Ok, I don't know anything about tournaments, but I would guess fighting to the death (like striking someone in the face with a sharp weapon while they are on the ground) would be against the rules. I would also guess (maybe wrongly) that they would use rebated weapons so as to avoid serious injury,...

If the point of the original comparison is to say that SCA heavy is more limited/narrow in focus than WMA, i.e. the way boxing has no kicking, takedowns, etc. then I'd say: We don't do grappling & takedowns like WMA, but we do have a wider variety of weapons than they do, i.e. Japanese swords &a...
