A&S Shield

Well, I have been working on an accurate reproduction of a "Viking" round shield for more than a few months now. I finished it up last week and entered it in an A&S competition Saturday. I won! I took first place with a score of 95 out of a 100. I think I did a good job, but I sure did...

I'll be 37 next month.
Please note that I said the age of wanting to get or give. Not the age of getting or giving. Having one is what sparked the conversation originally.

I'm wondering about these for LARP use.

How long is the draw on them? Do you think they could fire a foam headed bolt?

Medieval hickey

My wife and I were having a discussion about whether or not hickeys are "period". My first thought was of hickeys being a 1950s invention. But of course they aren't! While I'm way past the age when one wanted to get or give hickeys, they occasionally happen. And I'm sure they happened a th...

A & S Documentation question

I have my first SCA A&S competition a week from today. I'm finishing up my documentation and have a question.

I'm unhappy with the results of my project in a few areas. Should I mention that? Or is that ponting out flaws for the judges?

White print on the dark shirt will look cool. But not worth extra money to me. But that's just my two cheap cents.

How do these look on non-white shirts?

Does the picture have a background? Or does the black only print?
A picture of it on a non-white shirt would be nice, but an answer will do.

McMaster Carr shipping

I just placed a small order with McMaster Carr. One box of 40 rivets to be exact. I went through the process not reading the small print and didn't realize until too late that they don't tell you the shipping cost. Do they screw you on shipping? They're only like 60 miles from me, so I'm going to be...

The ornate helms seem to be in contrast with the plain shields. Especially shields 3, 4, and 7 counting left to right.

Fought Dagorhir with you many times.
Big white guy, used to wear a keffiyeh, brought my daughter along most times.

Just getting into SCA, don't have passing armopur yet, and the loaner armour isn't big enough.

http://www.worldofgrim.com/kotdstand.jpg I wonder how many head shots get ignored because your opponent is trying to hit that meaty arm flesh? Not sure who you're swinging rattan with, but I know some people would be drawn to that like fish to water. (Jawlek comes to mind) -Halbrust
