I've been told you want to use a brush when painting the inside of a helmet. But what about painting elbow and knee cops? Is spraypaint OK?
I'm only painting them to block rust. They'll be hidden.

I think that answers my question of how it flew into the crowd.

Help me be at least a little historically correct
I picked up a beautiful white cotton fabric with a crocheted(?) open lace type bottom. I plan on making my daughter an angel winged tunic similar to this http://ny-image2.etsy.com/il_75x75.125063730.jpg Can someone point me to historic examples of simiar looking shirts/tunics? Dresses would be fine ...

Awesome job Alric!
For Alric and everyone:
If I were do a similar job to this sword http://www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... king+Sword do you think it would look as good?
It's a lot cheaper than this one http://www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... king+Sword

SCA shield size
There is no maximum size listed in the Handbook I have. Did I miss something?
This IS NOT a question about the uselessness of oversized shields. I was looking for the maximum legal shield size, and was surprised and confused when I couldn't find it.

Who sells them for cheap?
I've tried googling them, and I can't find any that are affordable. EBay has OK priced ones, but they are all "no color choice, you get what we give you".
I assume a SCAdian makes and sells them... who is it?

Paint the baskethilt matte or flat black, and it "vanishes" visually at a distance. . I was planning on doing precisely this for a "Norman" sword. If you polish the hilt and pommel nice and shiny, and make sure to wear a black glove under the basket, it may work. Watch for the c...

Hilt, pommel AND basket
Has anyone done it? Did it look retarded?
I don't think I'll have gauntlets any time in the near future. But I think a sword should have a crosshilt and pommel. Theoretically you can put a basket between the two.
If anyone has done this... how'd it look? Work? Do you have pictures?

What about a combo where the first hit is lower leg and the second hits your helm?
Fall down?
No because the illegal blow caused the legal killing blow to land?
(assuming the illegal blow was unintentional)

The Marshal’s Handbook section III.B.12 reads “Grasping an opponent's person, shield, or weapon's striking surface or bow/crossbow is prohibited” Common sense tells me that pulling the upper corner of my opponents shield away from him to strike at his shield shoulder is illegal. I’m asking only beca...
