I'll put my two cents worth in and suggest it may be a needle case. That is something that is known to have been worn by Norse women and they have been found is several styles in wealthy graves. Too small? Look at it's size in comparison to the coins and beads. It seems too small to be a needle cas...

I'll openly admit my ignorance and state that I had to look up the word reliquary

So it was obviously meant to carry something. We're talking about a 9th century nordic find. So I don't think it was being used to hold relics of saints. Maybe my drug idea isn't so far off after all.

That's exactly what I was referring to. And I swear I did google search for it. That's how I found the picture I did.

I wonder if the other piece just to the left of it is part of it? That's what made me question it being a container. I'll read the article later that you linked to. Thank you!

Lavvu

Has anyone ever used, or better yet made, a lavvu? I've kinda fell in love with the tent and would appreciate some guidance in how to go about making one. Northern Lavvu sells a great looking 10' lavvu for $195, but that's without the poles. Plus it would be really cool to sleep in something I made.

Real arrowhead? Or creative marketing?

Is this legit? m http://www.by-the-sword.com/acatalog/ah-3522-6t2.jpg This Damascus arrowhead is a medieval Type 6 Forked Head tanged. This arrowhead does not fit neatly into either the barbed or non-barbed categories, because of the two points, although its use was quite common, It was used at the ...

COP with the plates on the outside

I have this foggy memory of Turkish armor that was basically a coat of plates, but the plates were attached to the outside of the shell. I'm not referring to the mirror armor. At least I'm pretty sure I'm not. Does anybody know what I'm thinking of? And can you give me a friendly nudge in the right ...

Just for the record I went from a 26" sword, to a 37" sword.

26" is an overgrown dagger. And at 6'1" 37" isn't overly long.

I just wasn't ready for the difference in feel.

Longer sword

I was gifed a longer sword this Saturday. Very nice, well balanced sword. But a fair amount longer than the short sword I'd been using. WOW is there a difference. The added range is nice, but I didn't realize the flip and spin I use when throwing wraps and such until I picked up the new sword. I'm g...

Well... I think I have a successful batch, but I don't like it. At a 10 to 1 ratio it gives a slight pleasant vinegar flavor and sweetens the water. But I I don't enjoy drinking it. I'm wondering if the recipe needs tweaking or if I just don't like the stuff. Having never tried it before my own brew...

I have a pattern that you can have. They are made to point to a C belt (or purpoint) and will need to be sized to you but they are a nice looking pattern. Padded cuisses

I know EXACTLY what I want, but can't figure out a pattern. I want a pair of padded cuisses that belt/tie around my waist that can be removed without taking my pants off. So, they will have to be crotchless and belt or lace around the leg. Did I mention they'll be worn under the salwar as hidden leg...

3 sprigs of mint, 1 cup of water, 1/4 vinegar, 1 cup sugar.

diluted at about 10 to 1 and was pleasantly surprised.
