Re: Small horde of Hessen sword hardware for individual sale

What is that small crossguard on the bottom left of the group shot? - I don't see it on the website. It is a Windrose Celtic "hilt" that I picked up used because I liked the pommel that came with it. http://www.windrosearmoury.com/zc/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30_64_71&products_id=232 M...

Re: Small horde of Hessen sword hardware for individual sale

I'd consider the solid steel wheel if it wasn't blackened. It doesn't really fit with the crossguard. (I like my sword to have the mid-weight point nearer the crossguard, for maneuverability. But I don't like the massive weight of a basket hilt) I supposed I could grind it to take off that finish, ...

Re: Need to buy steel roundel

Try Jamie at Polar Bear Forge. He lazer-cuts the 1/2" thick Musashi tsubas I sell at http://foxknife.com

The 2" rondel pommels I have are galvanized, have a 1/4" center hole, and are much thinner (a hair over 1/16" thick).

Re: Small horde of sword hardware for individual sale.

Roundtop, the 8" premium straight crossguard at http://foxknife.com/store/index.php/hardware/tang-mounted-crossguards/premium-strait-crossguard.html is a favorite of mine and I am a bit surprised it has not sold already. I think Stephen has made an excellent array of wheel pommels. At 4.3 oz, the al...

Caius705, run to http://foxknife.com/store/index.php/hardware/tang-mounted-crossguards/premium-two-ring-crossguard.html and look for the message "only 2 left" (or only one left) above the price. Inquiries are not the same as sales, but I've had more than two inquiries and only two of these in stock....

If it matters to anybody Stephan (the guy who made these and the the guy I am selling them for) just had a birthday.

You could call buying these a birthday present to him (and to yourself). :)

If anyone knows John Molina from NY state, please have him check his email. I have a package for him and the post office suggested a sightly different address. I want to verify before I mail.

By "more shape" do you mean closer to the shapes marked as "bad" in the illustration above or something else?

Re: Triad Drills?

Lone sword and shield vs spearman and a shieldman with no weapon. If they work together the pair should win. Lone opponent vs fully armed pair or triad. Lone opponent should be congratulated for killing anyone and should not run away (this is fighter practice not a track meet). Triad should time how...

Re: Paging Thomas MacFinn

Sorry, I have been totally out of contact since early June: eleven hour shifts at work, six-day weeks every other week, no fighter practice, no events, etc. with no immediate end in sight. I have a *huge* pile of old emails that I am starting to dig through today.

Re: Lathe turned rattan daggers FS

The longer the rattan, the more it flexes. At some point, it will flex right off your lathe.

I used to commission lathed rattan, but the first guy moved and the second guy got fed up with how rough the rattan was on his tools.

Have you had much success over 32"? what about 36"?

I am very interested in the limits of turned rattan.

Will this affect split rattan construction?
Sean Reisz wrote: The rule says, "unless the striking surface has at least 1/2 inch (12.7mm) progressive give." The split in split rattan glaives provides flex and give. If the split provides enough give, then it qualifies.

Re: 2" rattan in Meridies

A question here. Let's say I have a piece of 2¼" rattan. I shave it down to a carved boarspear (thickness 1½", blade width 1¾" and lugs 2"). Would this be illegal in Meridies? If the lugs were 1¾"? If you don't own a marshal gauge, borrow one. Existing marshal gauges may be used to test this rule. ...
