Re: Ok I want Help with this issue
I would have Ice hack a full inch off and then you could actually wear demis as well as full cuffed gaunts. Either one would protect your wrist and there would be no visible gap if the demi or gaunt cuff is done properly. Those arms are just too long as they are. Just my .02c PS: Nice kit. Lookin go...

Re: The Mace and SCA combat.
I was merely suggesting that a mace is simply and truly a power weapon designed to crush armor. It is not a finesse weapon even though it can be wielded gracefully. The excessive force rule keeps us from using a mace to its true potential and its real intended purpose.... crushing humans to death re...

Re: Are we swordsmen?
I can't really call myself a swordsman here as I would be blasted from all sides if I said so. I think there is a number of ways the term could be used and too many ways to attack a person for suggesting that they are a "swordsman". What I can say is that I have been training all my life to be able ...

The number one negative against the mace in the SCA is the excessive force rule.

Re: The Mace and SCA combat.
I don't use maces because I am too violent with them. It is for the good of my opponents that I do not use them. A mace is designed to defeat armor and cause severe blunt force trauma to the soft tissues beneath said armor. Maces are cool but a mace is a mace no matter how you slice it and they do e...

I honestly think they chose non jousters for the show so that they would seem like normal people. Having seen a number of jousters promoting themselves it goes beyond what most normal people are willing to tolerate. KOM for example. Those guys had potential but turned off the general public big time...

You are not wrong. The marshal should be using a 1" round dowel.
From the handbook...
3. Face guards shall prevent a 1-inch (25.4mm) diameter dowel from entering into any of the face guard openings.

Re: SCA Topic- The Measuring
I don't see it as a problem. If the active knights are performing at a certain level it should be expected that one has to at least meet that level if they are going to be considered as an equal. Why make a knight that isn't at the same level as the knights that are active? It makes no sense to me ...

Well I consider myself to not be "active" at this point and I don't send emails to the crown saying "hey whoever you guys are talking about I disagree because I don't know them" It doesn't work like that. I don't see how a knight that isn't active could be giving their opinion to the crown. If you a...

Still the bar and the ...

True. It's not that you won, it's how you won, and the knights are the ones doing the measuring. Re: SCA Topic- The Measuring
The "50% win over 50% of the Chiv" measuring stick is a poor one. If kingdom A has 100 knights of varying skill, and kingdom B has 20, the candidate in kingdom A must be able to go 50/50 with 50 knights as opposed to 10 in kingdom B. If people really want to make a standard, it will have to be soci...

I don't want the SCA Inc. anywhere near the BOTN. Many of our fighters are participating and that is enough for me. I personally think our system is better for various reasons. I do all my grill work with a stick welder. I prefer it over wire feed. Getting the gas mixes and stuff right is a pain in arse to a novice welder like myself.
