Not an SCA fighter, but anyway:

Age: 14
Height: 6' 4" imperial, 193 cm metric (yes you read that right :))
About 180 pounds, 82 kg metric.

I guess I'd fight with an axe and board.

Where did you get the idea that battle axes were not a chivalric arm? Because I'm not a historician I was under impression that, at least outside of battle, knights go would whatever the chivalric cliché required, such as swords and lances. Russ Mitchell: Obviously, it shouldn't be treated as a sw...

Another round of noob questions concerning axes.

Hello people. I know axes were probably more the weapon of the poor people, and at least oficially not deemed worthy for a knight. Maybe that results in less medieval records. Nevertheless, it sure is a mighty effective weapon, and thus, I wanted to ask you people - I know quite a few are active SCA...

I think it's disturbing how the fact that the steel in Japan is poor mutates into legends of magic swords cutting through tree trunks and whatnot. There's nothing better than good old medieval Europe. Also, has anyone seen the "Viking vs. Samurai" episode of Deadliest Warrior? OK, I know i...

A question about shields...

First: Hello everybody! Soo, I've got instructions to construct a shield. A viking-type, 90 cm (3 feet) diameter round shield. However, the article only mentions 'optional' arm straps. At first, I thought it's a good idea, but then I was told that arm straps are not necessary and are a good way to g...
