First wet your leather, it shouldnt take long, you don't need to soak it. Just dip it into a bowl of water for a few seconds. If your design is complex you may need to dip your hand in the water and wipe it over the leather to re-wet it. Take your design (a paper copy works, I use mylar) and place i...

I'm not saying that what we do is accurate. But there is precedent for the concept of single combat for a thrown.

Before the battle of Agincort (sp?) Henry V challenged the prince of France (Daufin?) to single combat for the thrown. The offer was rejected.

For SCA purposes a scale bernie and a combat legal 6 panel Ostrogoth spangenhelm

Fortunately I have my dream armour now.

Astheticly, switch the scales for maille.

A guy in my barony got one of those. We all told him not to use it. Besides, when he put it on the bars were way way too close to his face. A strong face thrust would have broken his facial bones

also, armour was of a different compostion than mild steel wasn't it. How badly would that affect a test?
I've been told that mideival armour was more likely to crack than dent. Any metalurgists out there?

From the way I read it I would say take the first one. If you were engaged with his line (which you were) then you were engaged with him. He got you fair and square it sounds like.

gaa, I can't find my copy of Talhoffer. It is the only period manual I have depicting armoured combat with greatswords. I would assume that you would beat the man senceless or knock him down then stab him through a chink in the armour. But, you do not need to penetrate the armour to damage his body....

please email me with details on how you did that. I assume it was one of those cheap indian helmets. I am making a fencing helm out of a Morion from india. It fits my head a little close, but doesn't fit with a fencing hood on. How can I widen the helmet a little without cutting or cracking it

No Randy, go ahead and take the time to make the other shoulder. Then, write down the process of what you did collect your documentation. Display your suit at an A&S display, preferably one where that martial is in attendance. Perhapse even have a friend point it out to him. Then sit back and watch....

armour kits

I know that Master G sells that CoP kit, but what about others. Do any of you guys sell do it yourself kits asside form helmet tops? Maybe a helmet with all the parts finished just not put together yet.
I'm not buying, just curious. It may help my fighters get active faster.
