Re: Getting rid of white mold on leather....

Plain Listerine mouthwash. Not too harsh on the leather, gets rid of the mold and mildew and the odor.

We use it on a few things here at the museum.

1000 year old shield

I haven't seen this posted yet so... http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,425260,00.html Danish archaeologists say they have found a well-preserved Viking shield that is more than 1,000 years old. Archaeologist Kirsten Christensen says the wooden shield has a diameter of 32 inches. It was found Tuesd...

Re: List legal my @$$.

I would love to host a stick fight tourney at Pennsic. My idea was to use our weapon and armor standards with their rules. Max lenght, min thickness pole arm, no thrust or butt. Fight is a timed event, winner is declared by populous vote. But I would have other events beside Donga or Suri. I would ...

Re: Why don't Squires exist?

If being a squire were a rank then being an apprentice or a protege would also be a rank. By your own words, the King was asking you to conform with tradition, not ordering you to follow a sumptuary law. I know several houses where their squires wear blue or yellow belts. I think that many of us are...

Re: Why don't Squires exist?

You can wear a red belt if you want to. Nothing stops you from doing so. Many people will assume you are a squire, and some may even get upset or angry with you over a breach of tradition. But there is nothing (save tradition) that reserves red belts for squires or prevents you from wearing one if y...

Re: Why don't Squires exist?

The same applies across the board.

Being a squire, apprentice, or a protege is a job you take on to enhance your experience and learn. Not a position or rank in society.

However, this may not have been intended for SCA use in the first place. That is why I asked.

Also check the average temperature during that time in their lands.

Europe was a good deal cooler for much of the middle ages, perhaps Iran was as well.
