Again, thanks so much for a detail and elaborate reply...I'm very appreciative of your taking the time and effort to help. I would certainly love to sit down with you and just absorb everything you can share with me...hopefully one day. All the other things like extending a section over the opening ...

Hi mrks, thanks for the reply. I've managed to teach myself quite a bit so far, and though I can shape thinner metal sheets to a certain extend, all I manage to end up with are pieces of round-ish bowls, which are of not much use except maybe a rather odd looking fruit bowl, and ones with dangerous,...

We do have one little handful of beginner armorers in Thailand -- near Krung Thep/Bangkok I think. Strictly early backyarder shade-tree stuff, though, and we've heard nothing since the unrest, though inquiry through backchannels said they were all healthy. They were cobbling stuff together and buyi...

Wow, thanks so much for all those info. Yeah I know my quest will not be easy, but I have to start somewhere. Hopefully one thing will lead to another, and eventually someone will deem me worthy enough for an apprenticeship... I've done a fair amount of reading, and watched many a video on how to sh...

Yes the budget airline do offer direct flights to Goldcoast, Melbourne & Perth.

Hopefully an armourer from there is willing to take me in...

Thanks for the reply OttawaClassicalSwordplay :)

Hmmm...never knew about NZ armourers...its certainly much closer to me, and I do have some friends in NZ, so maybe I'll ask them to ask around for me...

If you do come into contact with any of them do point them to this thread. Cheers! :D

umm most of us are in the UK, the USA or other parts of Europe and north America, Ill be amazed if there are any armorers there. I know Thailand & Indonesia do export some metal armor, though I'm not sure if its made there or imported from elsewhere wholesale and then distributed. I understand ...

Plastic is easy to work with if you understand its properties. You need to know what material is the plastic made of, as all of them behaves differently under heat. Some heats up real fast and cools real fast too, others heats up slow and stay hot for longer. I usually have only one gloved hand so I...

Thanks for the feedback. I'm currently in Malaysia, but that's not a major concern as I'm willing to travel to where the shop is located. If its someplace nearer to me like Thailand, Indonesia or the Philippines etc, great. If not, then I'll just have to save up for it. Like I mentioned I'm looking ...

Looking for a place to learn armor fabrication

I'm looking for a place where I can go for a sort of 'learning holiday', meaning I take up an apprenticeship in a shop that fabricates armor and swords etc for say, three months, to learn and help at the same time. Ideally no money will be involved from both sides; I 'pay' to learn by working in the...
