thanks for the help guys. I am hoping to try and mail him and see how much it would cost me to get one the same size as the butted one I already have on the helm. Hopefully i can get one reasonably priced so that i can avoid picking up pieces of my maille after every tournament.

chain aventail question

So i currently have a butted chain mail aventail on my current helm found here: m and i am having some slight problems with the new helm. I love the look of it and i want to keep the look, but the weight of it is really putting a strain on my neck. My question is what is the lightest gauge wire i co...

any interest in this axe?

Now that both my little brother and I have been out of school for quite some time and are both out of the house, my parents are starting to sell off the leftovers from our childhood stay. Recently my parents resurected this axe that my brother purchased at some long forgotten school trip. I was aske...

finished Hjalmr helm/revisited review

So i previously left a review of the helm i received from Hjalmr and a few people asked for pictures of the finished product. Here is what i ended up with after i forced a patina on it, ground down a weld or two, and added chainmaille. I would once again like to say that I am in love with Hjalmr's h...

i use about 50/50 beeswax/parafin mix. I make a double boiler and let that melt the wax. In the mean time i have my leather in the oven at around 150-175 degrees, just enough that the wax is warm (warm enough that it can still be handled with bare hands). after the wax is melted i remove the wax fro...

Going to put a maille aventail on it, and possibly spiff it up with some brass rivets, and etching if i can find something i like. Going to try a forced patina to try to make the helm look old and used.

13th century russian designs?

I recently got a new helm and i was contemplating doing some etching on it. The only problem is i have no idea what kind of designs would work for a 13th century persona. i have tried to find some designs by google searching, but so far i can find nothing. The only pics i have found are not close up...
