I don't know what you think the Pope did that has to do with this thread, but I'm pretty sure he was innocent.

Just remember to point out the Crusades did not happen in a vacuum. There were centuries of Muslim expansion and threats before the First Crusade was called. this, the crusades were a response to muslim expansion, including the conquest of spain, the sack of rome in 846, invaded france and were sto...

I just started doing rapier (authorized a week or 2 ago), I ended up picking up a hanwai practical, (the $86 price being the primary selling point, being poor from buying armor for heavy...) and its really not a bad blade certainly not whippy, its not the equal of blades costing 2x as much, but it i...

Don't find every peer trying to hurt new fighters, or every officer holding new people down, or going out to ruin peoples fun. In my barony for the most part they'll go out of their way to hit you where you have armor, if they know your a newer fighter, and because of that standard they set I try t...

Re: Yes

This is an entirely unrealistic approach for a number of reasons, prinicpally because it assumes there is one "best" type for each piece of armour. Armour needs to fit both the body and the fighting style of it's wearer. Different people have different needs for armour. A pole fighter may...

My flat ring riveted aventail adds at least 10# (probably abit more it reaches and inch or 2 past the point of my shoulders, which makes it drape properly like on the effigies) to my helmet, which is 12g because I'm lazy and don't want to fix dents. All together its probably in the 17-18# range.

I advocate for taking the Atlantian rules and adopting them Society wide. I could see a 6 month 'break in' period, but only for now. Not for each new fighter. It is much easier to build the correct armor in the first place, instead of building crap, and then having to build all new armor within 6 m...

I fight because its something I enjoy doing, I was a soldier and there were parts of that job I loved (and plenty of suck to go along with it) and I've always loved history, so its only natural that I ended up doing something like this.

I'm looking for fight/training videos that would have educational value. I think that segmented breastplates like that from Churburg had a short lifespan, other than this they were used in a time were often armour was still covered by other garments. With the helm its all in how you pad it, I've fixed noob helms for a few fighters so they actually have a good fit and don't flop all over the place. At least in my barony new fighters are offered all the assistance they could need, and at least 2 formal armor nights a month.
