Re: Pennsic Tournaments

I have to say, I really miss the Historic Combat Series. The plate & maille tourney, sword & buckler tourney, longsword tourney, as real men fought tourney... All tons of fun.

Re: Dangerous polishing

My buffer is on a 2HP motor (or is it 3HP?). It doesn't slow down. It caught on fire once from the friction while I was buffing my old helm. Yeah, usually it thows things down and away, but I had some stuff leaning against the stand so the cuff got wedged between the stuff & the wheel, so it pulled ...

Re: Dangerous polishing

I ended up getting five stitches centered between my eyes when my buffing wheel threw a demi-gauntlet cuff at my face. Doing the math, I figure it was traveling at 33 MPH. It felt like I got slammed in the face with a brick. Fortunately, my glasses (prescription, not safety) took some of the impact ...

Re: Estrella numbers

I was disappointed in the number of battles. There were so many more battles listed on the schedule than we actually fought. On Saturday, we only fought three battles, skipping the open field & others. :( With the amount of driving (over 13 hours one way for me), the time off work, and the high site...

Re: Estrella numbers

I would offer my congratulations as well to the Kingdom of Atenveldt. The fighting was nothing short of legendary. I'm inspired to prepare some moves and stances I haven't considered in many a year. The Outlands, who always has done a great job in whatever capacity, upped their game yet again and i...

Extremely interested, depending on price and turnaround time. I am looking for some finger gauntlets for this season. Do you have any idea yet? Are those lames riveted on, or are those bolts & nuts holding them together?
It would be tough to buff if they are already assembled.

Re: Kingdom Tallies and comparisons

As a percentage the WEST took a larger hit. And Lochac took an even bigger hit. I suspect some of these large drops are from bringing the records up to date (dropping fighters who have disappeared). The crazy one is Atenveldt more than doubling it's number of AC fighters! Did they go on a major rec...

Godric, You've seen my 1066 kit that I have been wearing for the past three years. I use Stonekeep spring steel fanless cops in it. Size A for the elbows and size C for the knees. Size B fit Titus' elbows & size D fit Bachus' knees. (I had bought A-D because I didn't know which sizes I needed). I gl...

Hmmm. I wonder how well it would work to fill the inflatable one with expanding foam? That would give it a little bit of heft and add some rigidity. Or, fill it with plaster of paris for even more heft! Never mind. I just clicked the link and saw that it inflates a tube frame to make the die rather ...

Re: WTB 'Broken Lance' for SCA heavy fighting

I believe Radnor's broken lance is made from a beefy chunk of ash. I don't think it started life as a baseball bat blank, but I could be wrong.
It is about sword length, btw.

Purely defensive. I recall him stating that it had all the disadvantages of a madu with none of the advantages.

I've been wearing Boehmond (sp?) 3-toggle Jorvik boots. They are his "off the peg" line, about $80. I've used them both with and without vibram. Sometimes I slip and fall, but I don't think it happens any more than when I wore engineer boots or the East German combat boots. I'm wearing the...

Re: Knotwolf Surplus Sale 2 - Punches for XX

OK, so I checked out my punches, and as it turns out, I already have XX punches .219 & .281.
So my new, new order is:

Punches:
1x 5/32
2x 3/16
1x 7/32

Dies:
3/16

That comes to $25, right?

Re: Knotwolf Surplus Sale 2 - Punches for XX

Let me make sure I have bottom dies for those from my collection of #7 punches. I actually had no idea that the #7 & #xx dies were interchangeable! If I don't have all the bottoms, I will need to add those to the order.
I'll check them tonight after I get home.

Thanks,
