Not sure who the Knight on the right is but that is Duke Olaf Askoldsson on the left in the black. I remember that helm and armor from back in the mid 80s.

Looking at my last statement I didn't want it to seem like I discarded some of the guys who I really like. I just see the swamp ape (Aengus) verusu the Bigfoot (Jon) as the fight I like. Ashi has done real well in tourneys and is a top-level fighter from all I have heard. Callian is a great fighter ...

Fought with everything from a coffin lid, to a heater to a round. Settled on a kite shield simply because it's what my persona would have used. That being said, I am a firm believer, as was stated earlier, that a knight should be able to pick up any shield or weapon and use it effectively. Greenshi...

The SCA is to be fun and if fighting with a greatsword is fun then you should do it. I don't see it as that bad a thing. I don't fight greatsword often because of my persona. I do have a couple around the house and will pick then up from time to time. An early persona with a greatsword might be out ...

There are areas where the heater or similar strapped shield regns supreme and a new fighter will see and learn that shield first and so are just more comfortable with it. Some have been fighting with it for numerous years and being that the SCA is a sport have more success with the heater. It's a fi...

Ding ding. You win a prize. That was exactly the point I was trying to make. Many fighters work hard to refine themselves over the years, learn a particular set of moves, etc. Some have more difficulty at it than others. Hence when a person eventually refines their style and become decent, they may...
