Leather weight for cuisses?

What's a good weight of leather for stand-alone leather cuisses for heavy fighting?

10-12 oz. okay?

I am making faux splinted cuisses with articulated poleyns, and wear Zoombang underneath.

Re: Cotton Velvet or Wool for a surcote?

do you have a pic of you wearing the results? (Preferably with the same lens flare?) :) This was the first surcoat that I made in cotton velveteen, lined with natural linen. It was too short because I screwed up the pattern and hem. My second one was longer, but I don't have a photo. I'm wearing a ...

There are many, many search engines for the illuminated manuscripts. Manuscript Miniatures is one of them.

There are also search engines for Medieval art, effigies, etc.

Re: who sells feast gear?

They were unable to follow clear, simple, written instructions with attached photographs of the items that I wanted. They sent me items that were in the ballpark of what I ordered, with a ...

Re: DIY chapes - stake anvils?

I think he means chapes for sword scabbards. That usually comes out a tombstone shape. Exactly. Or cone shaped. Some of these stake anvils look interesting. I have a 1-inch hardie hole on my anvil. Wondering about making my own stake anvil forms that are more chape-like, and if anyone has tried any...
