The real thing about a spear that we, as SCAdians, don't often realize is that the spear was *much* more deadly than the sword. The sword was a great weapon for pleasant pasttimes like cutting down revolting peasants (and what peasant isn't?) or for fighting out of armor, or for armored combat where...

I prefer a well-made breastplate (like Churburg #14). I find them lighter and more comfortable than coats of plates.

I think your best bet is a CoP (I actually prefer one of the Kussnach styles to most of the Wisby, but either way) worn with splinted leather arms and gamboissed cuisses with dependant poleyns. You can wear front greaves since they were still fairly common at this time, but you can't go without lowe...

Certainly the long sword is perfectly reasonable, as is the spear. I haven't been able to actually document how early the pollaxe was used, however, I suspect that the "axe" Froissart attributes to Jean le Bon at Poitiers is none other, which would make it perfectly reasonable for your persona. I concur with what Richard, wrote, but I wanted to add another idea. Japanese sword teachers talk about "looking at what is far away as if it was close and what is close as if it were far away". As with many oriental ideas this sounds much more profound because the language doesn't translate easily,...
