Examples of Knights in Shining Armour (SCA)?
Okay. Much as I love the Jerry Springer show, and a good ole flame war about CA, I am a tad tired of negativity at the moment. So the topic is. Give examples of good things you have seen SCA Knights do? On the field towards non knights, off the field towards non knights. What have you seen that make...

The problem, IMHO, is the lack of formal training that is still prevelant at SCA fighter practices. The attitude, especially amongst the heavies, is get em on the field fast. I think this is so that baronies and such can bolster their ranks for melees. This practice (or lack of) is what prevents the...

Thanks Bela, That was one of the things that I was curious about. Some years ago I saw an episode of a show called Real America, hosted by Kevin Nealon. They did a segment on Pennsic. It was pretty bad. As much as I may enjoy the SCA, I would not want to watch interview after interview of folks talk...

Non SCA Reenactment Archery
Ok my very first post to this board was about combat archery and knightly combat, in the SCA. The question for the day is: How do Reenactment groups (LH and such) handle if at all combat archery, when doing reenactments? Like say the Battle of Hastings? ------------------ "As long as there are fanat...

LINEN! WOOL! COTTON TOW! Natural stuff breathes so you don't drop. Last year at a tourney I dropped of heat exhaustion wearing no natural materials, all poly blends. This year I fought for two hours straight in all linen and wool no problems. (Of course working out and getting into shape helped too....

To avoid using swords yet still able to do battle, many bishops (and why does it seem to be always bishops) used maces and cudgels to avoid spilling christian blood. (You would think of all of the sins most clergy were involved in at the time, killing with a sword would be the least of their worries...

Being in Atlantia I do not see how it makes that big of a difference. While I like the champions battles on their own the idea of giving it warpoints is rather, well, pointless. If you are going to have a "war" then it should be based on full on battles, not on small skirmishes. ------------------ "...

A Knight's Vigil
In my neverending quest to know what everyone else is doing in terms of reenactment and authenticity, my newest question is: How common is the vigil before knighting practiced. Not asking about historic examples, I am aware of those. I am talking about modern knights. If you are considered a knight ...
