Perhaps they will. One of the things that I see with C&T is the bridging of the gap between the medieval styles of swordsmanship and the Renaissance styles of swordsmanship. One specific point is the ability to replicate some of the non armoured fighting techniques without having to be fully armoure...

Cut & Thrust in the SCA
Anyone here ever been involved in the old Sidesword stuff, or is currently involved in Cut & Thrust?
I would like to hear people's perceptions and experiences with it.

Take your pick.

I would, however, recommend not going for Bartholemew de Burgersh at Reims (Grey) -- 1359. Bad business what they did to that poor dog.
Other than that you can count me in as well.
(Oh crap, now I have to really start working on a 14th century kit)

Marshalling at the Woods Battle?
I know that the woods get pretty thick and that of all of the battles this one is the one where things always seem a bit out of whack, however... During the first part of the woods battle (without Combat Archery), I was with a group holding a line, we had a thin tree line between us and the opposing...

I would still say that they overreacted. But you should not have tried to talk to them afterwards. They still had a bad impression brought on by their own emotions, and nothing you really could do would change that, short of getting that King involved. They were across the "river". They did not hear...

Say hallo to my little friend! Four medium kong heads attached to a 6 foot pole, with mandrake thrusting tips at both ends. Each kong head weighs around 6 oz. I snipped the tabs off of the opening and drilled the other side to fit. I also made a...

Mike, The armour Archive grows and evolves as a community. If it were to remain simply an Armour forum it would be rather small. As for the PaulB section. This is something he can, likes and wants to do. If there was a Bob Charon section (who is in the SCA as well, by the way) I would read that sect...

For all intents and purposes, I do not think we need to have yet another section. Medieval combat and weapons can include SCA combat. If you want to have a post that is not SCA specific simply post (Not SCA) or (HWMA Only) in the title thread. It works. Now then if one has disdain for the SCA, hey t...

The old scenarios used to be the attackers resurect and the defenders do not, as it was a timed battle to see how long it took to overwhelm the defences. I rather liked the causeway version last year. Aethelmearc can only field 400 fighters, with a max of 200 allowed to defend the bridge. This 200 g...

Pennsic Broken Field battle (thoughts)
After reading the description, I am not sure if this is Bannackburn or Stirling Bridge. Either way, the defending battle commander is going to need to do some serious teamwork to get this ready in 30 min.

The Castle Battle (??)
OK so I think I understand this one. Aethelmarc will in essence have 600 fighters (200 of the 400 can resurrect once) The attacking army must use seige weapons to open the walls? So is someone constructing battering rams, or are the knights just going to grab a couple of squires as makeshift ones? T...

Just what the title asks. Sounds like it could be great fun or a right royal mess. Town Battle Start time: 11:00 am 90 minute resurrection battle The Army with the most objective points at the end of 90 minutes will capture and sack the city. Points will be awarded for multiple objectives throughout...

Okay, between McBane's "Duelling Whoremaster" stories and Silver's "Cob's Traverse", I am putting up the Brits as the funniest of the fechtbuch writers. Are there any contenders?
For sheer lowbrow humor alone, some of the art cannot be beat:

Perhaps HRM is thinking of Mensur Duelling? Which specifically uses schlagers.

Unpadded polearm sidebar question
So.
Can anyone here tell the difference if you got bashed by the "blade" or the haft of an unpadded polearm, if you do not actually see the strike?
