What I've seen, make the padding as you would any other helm. Pull out the padding and cover it in a velvet. The velvet colors will show through the spaces in the helm giving a nice contrast. YMMV

That way I would never have to pull black knee pads over my black hose and feel stupid. -Vitus Sir Knight, Ever put your knee pads on under your hose? My hosen are slightly loose also, not sure how you style your's. I wear these m and they work great and don't add an unsightly buldge in the knees. ...

Up until recently I've done Jester's method, I also have been told time and time again that I tend to take lighter shots and have also been killed numerious times by "thinking" about the shot recieved. I am trying to get to the point of "if I have to think about it, it wasn't good". But I do confer ...

I've just started the Wisby Armour book, they were a peasent levy, right? I would expect some panic and running for some back wounds. Anyway, if the COP is for SCA something should be done about the back or your going to really feel those wrap shots to the back. It stings, just have to remember to ...

I use a pair of the revival "Light Sparring Gloves" in my finger gaunts. They're well padded, but a bit thick in the palm making it somewhat difficult to hold a sword. They are very protective though, and as you can see by the pic I had these gaunts over engineered, cause I don't like getting hit i...
