TT-

Cool! Glad you got it OK and it fits. That gauntlet needs some work (some good cleaning buffing and oiling) but should provide years of service.

Cheers!

Otto- New friends are always appreciated. I think I will be able to swing the $50 (after talking to the lovely wife- she said "If you want to do it, do it- it's only $50). If you are able, we can car pool. I will be heading up to Lloyd's place the 14th of May for joust practice. As I will be pulling...

Well it is a bit over 100 miles, but a chance to learn, not to mention hang out with Lloyd and Brian Price, should be well worth the trip.

Now I just need to come up with the $50.

Bascot, Thanks much for the invite, but finances are just not there to do this trip. I wish I could, but with the new baby I really can't deplete my account to go joust. Next year certainly! I am going to attempt a cheaper trip that weekend- up to WI to do some practice with Lloyd and crew. Cheers! ...

WoodenBulfrog-

My horse is an American Cream Draft. There are only about 300 of them, the only breed of Draft to come from the USA. ;-) She is a wonderfull horse, and is very friendly and fearless.

As for the boy- he is perfect. And sleep is highly overrated, right?

I think visible plastic is a good start...

Spun domes aren't all that bad- if you do that you might as well just ban bar-grills.

Hockey gloves are much more of an eyesore than spun domes.

How about banning jeans and tennis shoes!

Very nice indeed! Question for Halberds: How did you blacken it? Was it fire blackened or with a chemical? Just curious as I have chemically blackened things in the past, but am planning on doing a complete harness in the future... As soon as my checkbook can afford all the pieces! Cheers! ~Kevin

Thanks Leo! I will get it out this weekend. Johann, worry not, I will send you the other one (I need money more than I need a morion that I have worn at the faire twice I think...). Thanks for helping me get armed up for the coming season! Now tell your rapier fighting buddies about my fencing gear!...

SCA Fencing gear for sale/trade-

Greetings! In my pursuit of 15th C. armour, I have managed to end up with some SCA fencing type gear. I figure if no one wants to trade for 15th C. armour bits or buy them off of me, I can always unload a stage combat weapon at the Ren Faire this summer. What I have is: A Rapier, made by CAS Iberia,...

Leo, My head is also a 23"- fits me fine with a linen liner (not included)- I bought two of these, sold one to a friend who has since traded it back to me for something he needed for his kit. Mine has a linen liner that I have no idea of the historic accuracy of- basically a cotton padded cap that i...

I am only a 23" noggin (fairly smallish, I suppose given the sizes of people here)-
Would this work with minimal padding (not for SCA, for Ren Faire show joust).

I have an offer pending on the gorget and gauntlet- just waiting on payment.

It is 19" inner diameter, so should fit an 18" neck.

One more bump-

I still have a ton of stuff here-

No reasonable offer refused, will consider trades- I am looking for 15th C. stuff and or rebated combat blades.

Get a cool morion and rapier for the upcoming renaissance faire season or to wear to court...

Looks like you have had a lot of help here- As for blade choice, any blade (foil type) should work with your fittings, and be close enough to the broken one only you will know the difference! Looks like the only unanswered question is the thread type, what the english vs. metric- take the blade once...

Frank, Let me check the ones I have, as I would like them to be close. The problem with the McMasterCarr stuff is the guage of the steel in the size I need is much too thick. For a 4" ring (only available in spring steel and not stainless) is 5/16" That is pretty thick for some horse tack. Granted t...

As to how to fit it- I would have to handle it, but try and get it apart. It went together at some point, so reason stands that you can take it apart. Check to see if the pommell screws on- or is it peened over? Screwed on is simple, peened is a bit more troublesome and could require some grinding a...

But yeah, that blade is toast.
