WTB: Welded stainless rings, 2", 3" and 4"
Does anyone know where I can get welded rings in stainless in sizes other than 2"? I have seen them online in 2" - I believe it is the ring lord that sells them. I am in need of a couple different sizes. Can anyone here make them or know where I can get them? These are for some horse tack I am makin...

Pics added. Some are not the best, sorry. The rapier ones didn't turn out very well. Neither did the ones of the maille, although it is used as a backdrop for most of the other pieces... The kettle helm shows a bunch of rust- it really isn't that bad and I will polish it before I ship if anyone purc...

Hey I personally think 6K is not a lot of money on a hobby. Granted, this 6K will be spread out over at least two years. That is roughly $250 a month. Not so much money on something I love. Buying a second suit for the same price- because I can. If I had the means (and someday maybe I will)- I would...

ML- $1300 for a suit. Can be done. I've had 3 different suits of plate and the most expensive one I got for about that much. Cheapest was $600. Why do I not have them anymore? They were not historically accurate and were not made for me. My new helm is currently being made. It will cost about $1200....

Lloyd, Yeah no worries mate! I have a B & B I will be getting from Winterfell once I come up with the money. This whole kid thing is expensive- dropped $500 in one trip at Babies R Us... and that was only one trip of many... I really don't need a helm unless it is a 15th C. to bridge the gap. I have...

Lloyd- At thid point I am just looking for a shield. One of the IJA ones would work, or an old one from Bristol. Tell ya what- I'll trade you either one for the aluminum one. I kinda need $$ for one of the gorget's to get the B & B I need and I think I have a better chance of selling the SS one. Or ...

That is exactly the gorget I have, in stainless. Lloyd, I wish I could come up this weekend, but I seriously doubt it. This whole new kid thing- I doubt my wife will let me go out all day this weekend and dragging the kid up there will be a PITA. I am heading up North to Bill's place mid March (his ...

Sorry folks, I did not get a chance to take pics last night. With a 16 day old child in the house I didn't get a chance until 11 PM, only to find out my battereis in the camera needed to be recharged. I then went to bed. I will get them tonight. They will be sent to all interested parties and posted...

As for the question on how long it takes to get a horse used to the lance- Depends quite a lot on the horse. My horse was fine with it the very first time. She also doesn't mind the Chicago South Side Irish parade where there are 200,000 drunkend idiots yelling and cheering... My wife's horse on the...

Oh, I forgot to mention that I would be willing to entertain offers of trades. I need at the moment: 15th C. legs. Prefer German, but any style 15th C. will work for now. 15th C. Breast and back. Same as above. Sallet. Must have historic size eyeslots (1/4" - 1/2"). With bevor preferred, but I am pr...

Not sure if this has been covered, as I skimmed a lot of the thread- as it pertains to SCA combat. I just figured I would toss my knowledge of head and eye trauma into the ring: I lost my eye (left) in a very untypical 20th century fashion. I got shot in the eye with an arrow. It left me blind in my...

Ingrid, I am planning on heading up there as well for some much needed joust practice. I will have my Tahoe, so if it will not fit in the VW I will be more than willing to stick it in my truck. If the pavilion will not fit in my truck, I'm not sure how you would ever get it to an event! Although tha...

Can I get a sticky for my Wise Ogre complaint?
Not really, but I figure with all the HW negative stuff, I feel left out... I sent money to Gundo 3 years ago... Armour that was supposed to be ready in 3-4 months. I purchased my spot in Gundo's queue from someone else who had been waiting 2 years... Damn, I spent $2K and all I got was some lovely ...

Bascot, Worry not about my horse! The maille will not be touching the horse- thus the need to sew it to leather- the leather will be the backing- in that the leather will be on the hores, and the maille will be attached to the leather breastcollar. It will be attached solidly, except the dags at the...

I use a standard Home Depot super sized cutt-off kit (about 100 cuttoff wheels of various sizes). I haven't tried them on the stainless though- they cut through the aluminum 12.5 ga pretty well- I could get 25-50 rings per wheel. It was very slow and time consuming, but it did work. If it works OK I...

The maille in question is overkill for cosmetic armour- my horse isn't exactly going into battle, and the 5" wide strips of maille will not provide much protection at any rate... It should look cool though! The maille is 14 ga. 5/16" stainless steel wire. Very very tough stuff, but the joints are no...
