Wal-Mart carries mane and tail, and it's less than half price to what I've ever found at a tack shop! Then again, in Chicago the area tack shops are WAAAAYYYYY freakin' expensive... :-)

Thanks Chris! I'm going to see if I can get hold of some brass nails or copper nails at the hardware store. This is for my show on Saturday, so need them ASAP- I can probably do the bolt thing in a pinch- dremel down the heads in some decorative pattern if I can't get nails. I'll let you know if it ...

Hey Iain, Really cool camp boxes. I would be interested in one of the saddle holding boxes you mention in another post you are working on. How much would one of those run and when do you envision them being in "production" mode? Not that I will have any surplus income for a while, but have to keep a...

I have plenty of places I can order rivets, just no time to get the order in... Thanks for the info though! I am going hardware store hunting for som copper roofing nails. ...

I just got my helm from David at Fireside armoury, and it looks very much like the one Xander made. Very cool, trying to add the liner and having some problems... Armour Guy- I have a friend who is in need of armour to start fighting heavy. Aprox size of said pair of legs? He's a pretty big guy (6', 280lbs) who's on a tight budget. I've donated a helm to his cause, but that's where my "help a friend" budget ends!
Thanks!

Attaching helm liner...

OK so I have a very spiffy new helm that came yesterday. Spent last night making a suspension liner out of leather for it, only to find out I don't have any rivets long enough to go through the helm and browband. How to attach liner to my new helm? I suppose I could get some roofing nails, but I kin...

When doing flat rivets I do them just as you are saying- setting on a flat section of anvil and peening over the back side. On curves this can be difficult, but it can be done... by peening them over on the inside they should pull up nice and tight. Also on places hard to reach it can help to use a ...

If in reference to while on horseback waiting for the next pass- it's called a foot(that thing ya walk on...) or you could say sabaton. ;-)
If in reference to on the ground, place lances stored- I would have to agree to call it a lance rack.

Hey Ted, I work for a major publisher and I agree. Editors edit many a book on subjects they know NOTHING about. They try to dumb down many an idea, because they don't know what it is you are trying to say. In defense of that though, we can't have an editor who is an expert on every subject. There j...

I have a barbute for sale- looks great from the front, but is not quite right from side or back. I have some people interested, but if that doesn't happen... It'll be cheap. I got it to use as an example when making my barbute, and it has outlived it's usefullness.

I am interested, but I will need some actual measurements. I am 6'3", 225. My foot is only a size 10, but not that worried about the sollorets fitting exact. I would like to make sure the arms and legs will fit nice (I have one kit already that fits fairly well).

Sword belt and scabbard

Looking for a sword belt and scabbard for 16th century arming sword. Anyone want to give me a rough estimate on a commission? Just looking for basic- black w/ brass trim. Would need to fit over armour and be adjustable to be work without armour.

I have a cheap one that I could let go of- it is a little tight on my head with padding, and I have 3 other helms. Email if interested I can send pics.
My noggin is a pretty average 23 or 24, don't remember, so it may be small for you too.

when I made mine, I just threaded the outside rings through the leather of the glove. Added some heavyweight stitches of thread to spots on the back of the hand to keep them from flopping. Works good, but they are only for costume so don't take much abuse.

You want critisism. OK. You suck, your helms are way to pretty to beat up. Causing reluctance on the part of those who are fighting you, giving you an unfair advantage.
