OK, Agreed that the linens could be very fine, but this would not have been the norm. Not all men at arms would have been wealthy. We were discussing hauberks, not exactly high grade state of the art armour in the 14th century. And even if a man at arms or knight could afford a very nice linen shirt...

OK, I was just mulling this over in my brain. Would not a linen shirt from the 14th century be a lot thicker and sturdier than any linen we have now? I've seen (and wished I could afford) the hand made linen and wool shirts made in a period style. They are very very thick. I mean hand made in that t...

Those tall leather boots...

OK, a while ago there was listed a resource for those tall Renaissance boots on the cheap (like $65 or so?)... my bookmarks all decided to leave me so I need the link again cause I think I'm ready to get a pair. Anyone know where the online store was? They are on E-Bay for $99, but someone posted a ...

The armour collection at the AI really burns me up. They display 225 pieces on permanent display (that NEVER rotates any pieces) out of the Harding Collections over 2000 pieces! Only 10% on display, and a curator who refuses to answer any emails or phone calls about getting into the stacks to look a...

I have made about a half dozen leather spaulders for friends who play Dagorhir. They work well, are easy to make and look cool because the tooling on them is just plain cool. I would think the Lipizaners and Analusions would be too thin to be destiers. They were used as parade horses, but as for large- average size of 15-15.2 doesn't make them very big. They were used as war horses for many many years in the 17th and 18th centuries, when speed and manuverability were mor...

Don't take apart your $300 gun when you can go to Sportmart and buy one for $50 that you can rip apart and play with all day long! Sounds like a fun idea. In the US, the percheron's are reasonably priced, great looking, big horse breeds available. Combined with other faster breeds- 1/2 thouroughbread 1/2 percheron makes for a great destrier, IMHO.

There is yet another way of making a rivet set- drill a hole in some steel as POD said, but don't worry so much about the size. Fill the hole with a little bit of lead. Nice soft non-maring rivet set without the trouble of touching all that nasty poisonous lead all the time. :-)
