He is using wood lacquer if i remember right. I will point towards this thread so he can get information and possibly talk to you himself. the main problem IIRC, is after letting the first coat dry and the putting on a second coat and letting it dry, he hit to see how it would stand up in combat and...

One of our local fighters live in an apartment and had this same problem. He got permission to use the punching bag as a pell after normal workout hours. Our local armoury also has a punching bag as a pell and it works great, specially since it moves as you hit it, and gives you a slightly moving ta...

Suggestions for Authentic Kit
Greeting All, I am a SCA heavy combat fighter looking to imp[rove my kit. I am portraying an Italian from about 1450. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions of books, and or websites on armor from this timeframe and area. I am currently trying to upgrade my plastic armor into something more authe...

I've read this entire discussion, and thought several days on my reply. Several of you are of the opinion that people are out there to help anyone, they jsut have to look. In our local barony, we have only one person that knows how to make armour. We have a few that know the basics of dishing. The p...

Several people in our local barony have made slashing spears with both a thrust and small slashing faces on both the front and back. I seen them used quite well in one on one polearm combat. It would be interesting to see them used in combination with a shield. Keep us posted on how the fighting goe...

I did not have that problem, but I kept moving the heat gun back and forth over the area I needed to bend. I pretended like it was a otrch and just kept the heat gun moving. I used the heat gun method to do plastic legs for a freind that is not sure if she wants to fight. Just keep the gun moving ba...

Another thing to try is a hot air gun like people use with their hockey sticks. I have found this better than using a torch or the oven method, because it heats the plastic just where you need to bend, and you can still handle the edges of the plastic to bend, also less chance of burning, either you...

I have the entire suit from him, used in SCA heavy combat. The gauntlets are the last thing I purchased from him, and they are great. I taken a lot of shots across my hands with just an occasional bruise to show for it. The only repairs i have had to make is to replace a rivet or two. For padding in...
