WTB: shield edging

Does anyone have shield edging in stock? The flexible kind with the metal backing that works great on aluminium shields?

there's nothing AGAINST it in the rules. The rules tell you what needs to be protected by your armour. As long as you protect that, you're fine. You may have to educate some marshals. It is what it is.

Sportier as in stick jock, or as in lambordini?? Just curious as I wouldn't consider it being sportier (nice lines, etc) going from a klapface to an open face or a sallet -just my opinion though. O.o it's sportier (stick jock) going from a kapvisor to a bar grill bascinet....being able to see is sp...

wanted...stainless helm... or even advice

Ok... I have a guy in my local group who wants a stainless steel open face bascinet or sallet. He wants to stay in the 500-600 range. Who the heck is any good with these parameters these days? Any advice would be helpful.

Football players can go weeks or years without SIGNIFICANT helmet to helmet contact. I really couldn't disagree more with this. I didn't quite speak fully... SOME football players can go long periods without helmet contact. Linemen are a different breed, and interestingly their frontal impact is pr...

I like a tight helm fit, but I wonder if tight chin straps actually lead to issues given our game. My motorcycle helmet will hopefully NEVER get hit to allow the strap to transfer energy to my head...and it's better to transfer energy than to come off. Football players can go weeks or years without ...

Re: Going against the norm

I have to sort of disagree with you, Corby. I don't disagree entirely. Your last statement is 100% accurate. Putting a new person in armour and beating the hell out of them is reprehensible. That said, just because you put someone in armour doesn't mean you have to beat the hell out of them. I go ov...

it also depends on how they define the class requirements. I know *I* had done well in excess of 300 hours of judo before I ever taught so much as a beginner's class. I don't know anything about the fees, but for a legit MA school, the hours may not be any kind of problem to log. Ken's example could...

Im gonna have to call on that one, because I was just at a Taekwondo tournament last spring in PA, and I didn't get arrested after fighting with a 17 year old (full contact judged, not Olympic target score). I have also been doing the ITKDA, OFT and IKF circuits for years, and have had broken bones...

I have to say I must strongly disagree with the "never let your sword foot go in front of your shield foot EVER" advice... I fight that way 95% of the time. It's a function of shield style first and foremost. I generally tell people to not take transition steps (where the lead foot becomes...
