how long have you being making armour that's a pretty spiffy looking piece. one minor problem pop or jiffy rivets are not very historical. as for strapping try www.brettunsvillage.com/leather. hope it helps (nice anvil)

they look like jousting helemets. i think the closest you will get is an armet for which we have a pattern in the archive. sorry if i didn't really help you.

i have just got my patterns for my doublet and i was wondering what the various layers are made out of. i'm non sca and this is for 15th century. i was thinking wool but it might be too thick.

doesn't medieval iron tend to have a darker colour when it rusts. i think it does anyway. just my 2cents

i have recently acquired a grooving stake which is the closest modern term i can find for it. i believe it is cast iron (good or bad). it 12" x 12" roughly and has grooves ranging from 2mm to 5mm wide (sorry about the change in measurements). anyone got any idea of how much it may be worth. it WAS c...

heat it to 550 degrees centigrade in an oven forge whatever then spray it with wd40.
that's what I use anyhoo but there is lots and lots of different methods similar but producing various effects.

bluing can be done on armour. it is done in many ways the most common i believe is to buy some gun bluing solution and follow the instructions on the pack. or you can heat it to a cherry red and spray wd40 on it. i think that's how it is done but don't take my word for it http://www.armourarchive.or...
