doesn't medieval iron tend to have a darker colour when it rusts. i think it does anyway. just my 2cents

heat it to 550 degrees centigrade in an oven forge whatever then spray it with wd40.

bluing can be done on armour. it is done in many ways the most common i believe is to buy some gun bluing solution and follow the instructions on the pack. or you can heat it to a cherry red and spray wd40 on it. i think that's how it is done but don't take my word for it http://www.armourarchive.or...
