No it actually slides up and follows the outer lower abdomen as you raise your leg, you could actuallt ride a horse quite comfortably wearing them. Jeff

Hey Durame, I use a steel blackening chemical called black patina which is available on the internet, I then steel wool the high spots for that worn and decayed look and then apply a rust inhibiting oil. Jeff
