Re: Anyone selling inexpensive vervelles?

I have a handful of Talbot's large brass vervelles I'll let you have for cheap. I also make my own, but they're $2.50 ea, so prob not classified as "cheap". Email if you want to talk about either, though.

Re: Please read if you have purchased a helmet from Clang Ar

Such devices exist in industry-they're basically as Iron Dwarf describes-a C-frame with a dial indicator attached, sort of like a giant micrometer. Sometimes they are divided like a pair of end nippers with very large, bowed jaws, and pivot open like pliers. I have actually collected parts to make s...

Re: Please read if you have purchased a helmet from Clang Ar

Primus, I appreciate your back-up, but let's keep this civil. To clarify on a matter, my site says 12 OR 13 ga for the top, not 12-13. Granted, it does not specifically say that that is the /starting/ thickness. Mark V, you stated: "I feel that armor should be described by its current thickness, not...

I could make one if you want. See here for the type I could do:

Those shown are all for 5/8" straps, but I could do a larger version for a bit more. Email if you'd like to discuss.

Re: Almost Japanese Gauntlets

Just as an addendum to the above, it occurred to me to wonder if they might have been made for kendo, so I pulled out the book and looked at them again. They have plate mitten plates and maille "cuffs", so I'm presuming they were indeed intended for combat. I also saw, though, that they're labeled a...

Re: Almost Japanese Gauntlets

It's definitely an area that needs some attention in the SCA, and kudos for trying to fill the gap. There's a pic of an original pair of Japanese "mittens" in Stone's Glossary. I've always wanted to find better information/pics, so I could try to make a decent SCA version that would look correct for...

This is an excellent set of reference books. The '62 edition, being offered here, is the version with the best array of photos. The earlier editions (from the '20's?), and modern reprints of thereof, are lacking.

5) A greastsword quillon with scrolled finials. Yes, the finials pass the 1-

job.

It is mild steel.
