Re: Are you a combat archer? What do you think needs to chan

I just wanted to make some clarifications below in bold; Are you a combat archer? Auth-ed as one, fought as one, but haven't in a while though What do you think about the combat archery rules? Do they need to be changed? Are arrows too powerful? They're ok but need some minor 'tweaking' My 'revision...

I don't have any forged handles. I would be tickled to do this again. I will estimate the cost. How about one about this size with a smaller (much smaller) one to carry smaller things so they won't get lost in the big one. The smaller one could double as a stool. Just a thought. I should have an es...

Just curious, I like spending money with fellow archivers and this would work out nicely for my new Hal tools.

I'm with his Grace as the two tones visually throw it off for me. Obviously you already have it so try it for a bit and see how it works for you. I recall some discussion on darkening stainless on here, you might want to do a search for it. Kit is rocking btw. Keep raising the bar!

Last time I checked melee is a little more than one on one, or didn't you get the memo? Come on, the team is exactly what it is about in a melee. Melee is a time to set aside personal glory and work together as a team towards your goal. In a tourney format you would be absolutely right, I'd be out o...

Well, my bad for typing too fast and not understanding the question fully then. I apologize for my mistake, let me correct it. I do not believe that CA is discourteous to other fighters. Here is why; When team A takes the field they have the same optional assets as team B. A combat archer may or may...

Obviously there is no point arguing further. When I point out that as a CAer I am employing a weapon form that is permissible by the rules we all agree to play by I get accused of rules lawyering, gaming the system, and cheating via a loophole. Now when the rules also clearly state that any combatan...

I don't need the rules to be re-written to say courteous rather than chivalrous. Do we not all know that courteous is a portion of chivalrous? The problem is people deciding chivalrous means more than it really does within the context of that statement within the rules. If it were written as courte...

I don't think most CAers would have a problem with face plate only. Honestly that is usually where I aim because it has the highest probability of being noticed. I know when the press is on it's damn hard to notice a bolt hitting you amongst all the other noise going on.

What we do is anachronistic in many, many ways, but I think that our melees can best be compared to foot-combat melee tournaments of antiquity. I believe "wars" were called wars from the outset because the intent was to play at being in a medieval war, with masses of infantry, archers, an...

"I think it's disingenuous to say that archers are gaming the system." In the real world, bringing a gun to a knife fight is prudent. In the context of SCA stickfighting, you're gaming the system. In the context of coming to an SCA war no I'm not. So if we win we get to loot your camp and...
