I've used various helmets through the years and I gotta say, for melees a kettle rocks. The visibility and air flow just can't be beat for me. I love it.

I constructed mine using the vertical plate arrangement and have been real happy with the wear ability and comfort of it. Guess I missed this the first time around. I like it, looks very functional and quite good lines on it. I was trying to remember where I had seen a statue with a back quiver, it was of Artemitis (sp) I believe, the goddess of the hunt. I'll see if I can dig it up. Once again, very nice.

Kettle Helmet....says it all. Look at Whitemountain Armoury or Mad Matts, there are others too but that's what comes to mind right now.

Here's one of my kits, I like the ailettes and they do provide some protection. They are water hardened leather and then painted.
