Re: Oerthan Winter Coronet
The last time that a Coronet was held in Earngyld/Juneau seems to have 1986. I attended a summer coronet around '93 (loved it!), though I wouldn't be surprised if there hasn't been one since (it's a long way 'round the horn for those who can't afford to fly)... AoC I was just stepping down in Drach...

If they are all gone for the summer, Nant-Y-Derwyddon's fighter practice was about a flat 1 hour drive away on I-26. Probably best to call them first.
Tourney of the Foxes is the last weekend in August nearby.

"The Shire of Earngyld is pleased to host the Oerthan Winter Coronet of A.S. XLV on January 15th and 16th, Gregorian 2011." That's right, I am inviting you all to the Coronet Tournament for Alaska in the Winter . There will be an open Roses Tournament after wards. The last time that a Cor...

Other than great helms I cannot think of any examples of helms not worn with aventails in the 14th century. What examples can other folks find? variety
The 14th century had a great variety of transitional armour. People seemed to have worn what they could get their hands on and worked for them. I have always been a little surprised that two out dated great helms were found from the Battle of Tannenberg (Grunwald) in 1410. If it still worked someone...

If you're a medieval guy trying to stay strictly in period this isn't any help, but if you don't care and/or you're an ancient guy, I found this sitting in a corner at the Museum of the Roman Civilization just outside of Rome. Just see Windrose and buy some threaded vervelles. It is not hard attaching an aventail just a little tedious. Worth the trouble though.

You might want to add floating elbows, thigh armour, and gauntlets.
Why do you not want an aventail?
