Sir Nigel, Sir Johannes -

Will you be tightening the kit requirement to a more precise date of the 14th century? I know now that we have been in the range of 1350 to 1400. That's a broad spectrum of kits.

Looks good, especially for home made links and rivets.

The only thing that I saw is that you are getting the dreaded "snake head" - where your link ends don't overlap properly and a little bit pops out the end. I don't know how to fix it, but I know that it can be done.

Care to explain why you didn't answer my question? I've noticed that you complain a lot about people not responding to your website and items for sale. When you are given constructive criticism and feedback, you give snide responses and ignore the advice. I told you I would bid if you would explain ...

My thoughts on ransoms: Replica coins are cool, however, one can not really do anything with replica coins but save them in a pouch. If this were 1351, the coins received from ransoms I would be used to buy material goods. Making/buying material goods to give as ransoms simply takes out the middle m...

Thanks for the replies all! I guess I did understand the meaning of doublet afterall. I don't think that's the problem - I don't have a lot to suck in being pretty skinny. It is more of a posture thing, which I suppose a well constructed doublet would help with too. In any case, when I got home last...

Hi James- Thankks for the reply. 1) Use cloth buttons not metal; they fit tighter and do not gap as bad. The gap is occuring between two sets, not between the two buttons. So if we are looking down my chest: : ) : Where the colon represents two adjacent buttons and the closed parentheses represents ...

Wearing a doublet helps with the gaposis. Hi Karen- Thanks for the reply. Yes, that is the version of the manuscript I was refering to. Cote Gapping

Sewing/Tailoring question: On a bag sleeve cote a la Gaston Phebus that uses the button arrangement of 3 sets of 2 buttons, how does one keep it from gapping between the button clusters? Perfect posture would fix the problem, but I know that by the end of the day at an event I won't be standing or e...

In mine I have foam padding around the top band and on the flat lid. Nothing down below, and nothing on the faceplate. The custom helm that is currently under construction for me was measured quite ingeniously - the armourer took a nice thick piece of foam and cut an approximate size hole for my head in the center and had me put it on. I've seen this image dated to 1375. I'm beginning to question that though - anyone have an idea of what would be a more appropriate time frame for it?

Do you need an official group to sponsor you for battlefield reservations?
