Leather skull cap, help please

Does anyone know the best method for making a leather skull cap?
or thoughts on how to?

I'm trying to make something similar to "Merlin's" Metal cap in "Excalibur", but with scales riveted to leather.

Sorry if any of this is misspelled or makes no sense at all. I'm typing blindfolded.

Didn't Scotty give away the secret of transparent aluminum in one of the Star Trek movies?

Yea..I'm a geek..but not enough of a geek to say which one or the scene

ST4 The Journey Home.
Scotty was negotiating for a rather large piece of glass.

Yeah I know, I'm a geek

If you handle the maille enough, the oils from your body will darken the rings to a uniform (or at lest blended) shade of grey.

I've also heard that you can boil some potatos, and soak the maille in the water (after your meal) and it will darken the galvinization (sp?).
never tried it myself tho.

A note on Pells: Get 2 small car tires, and one lawn mower tire. Cut one of the car tires so that it can open up. drill 4 holes in the cut tire (2 oposit from the cut, and 1 on either side of the cut), 3 holes in the mower tire (1 at the top, 2 at the bottom), and 4 holes in the other tire (to cores...

If you have the money why not buy an antique "real" one? Japan will not allow ANY of their "real" swords to be exported. They made them all "national treasures", so no exportation. Also, any sword made IN Japan made using authentic techniques and of exceptional quality are immediatly made "National ...

also, a lightsabre is equiped with a parabolic terminator so that the parabolic wave of light only goes so far before it rebounds (at 133cm I think) back to the handle (also creating a blade "width")

Thx Pendragon.
(Only 104 results) Read through about 20 of the threads, and found some good info that I may or may not try.

Pics? Yessssss.
Pics are our friend, and since these are "supposed" to look "good", they may even look good. :D

Thanks for the replys. Hopefully, I'll be able to make steel gaunts before another year or two (just don't have the gear for it now), so I won't need to wory about replacing the lames too much. I've got plenty of fiberglass resin here, so I'll do some testing with that as well as the "Wood Hardener"...

"You'll have to go with a heavier leather like 6-7 oz. in order for the leather to hold it's shape. " This is why I'm water hardening the leather. It WILL hold it's shape done this way. I've tested. As I said, this is NOT combat armor. It doesn't need to protect, just look good. Thank you for your i...

Cure Boille Question

Hello everybody. Been lurking about for a while now, and am just about ready to start making my first "real" but not really real armor. I'm going to make a pair for fingered gauntlets (based on the Thor Z pattern), but I'm going to make them out of leather. This is NOT for combat, but for a costume ...
