Regrettably I have not yet achieved a satisfying solution with the chausses I bought from Alfred. I have fiddled with them and the best guess I have is that either they are laced under the foot with a thong running through the links, which works perfectly well if you are walking on grass or in the s...

Audax, yes my cuisses are stitched closed at the back seam, making a tube that does completely around my thigh and knee. The top is left open, although I did finish the edges. I have stitched tubes into it and use ABS splints inside. I also quilted in a couple of layers of cotton batting (an old ake...

Anghaus, the Cappa is correct, the knights hospitaller osprey book has a decent illustration by Mcbride I believe. Seaan, shown on our website, wears a very similar robe. He had no trouble fighting in it and aside from the gooby gauntlets looked pretty smashing. Its a great way to hide sinful armor....

I posted links to some picks on the other version of this thread. Alternatively, my squire brother Eadric wears a short sleeved haubergeon and torvaldr bazubands when he is doing his 13th century impression. They blend in reasonably well. You could wear them under a long sleeved tunic and they would...

D.'s shirt was a ziegler product. It was my first shirt and came to me with help from military friends from Germany. Bummer that it has been sold I hope that it is seeing good use on whoevers back it now resides. I am planning on attending the WoH tourney, hopefully with several improvements to my k...

Greetings UntimelyEpiphany, Seaan's used steel gauntlets as a safety measure, they are not correct for the period he is portraying here. But smashed fingers are no fun, similarly my gauntlets are also incorrect. Brother Amos has a very nice looking solution, and I believe if you do some searching he...

How early are back point bascinets seen?
I am wondering when the point of the bascinet started to drift towards the back of the skull. I want to rebuild my 14th century kit for the 1350's time frame of the CoTT, but my bascinet has a moderate back point. Its not the extreme cones that you see at the very end of the century. I have been und...
